I'm so fecking skinny, I rattle about in the seat without harnesses holding me in. Best mod ever for feeling connected to the car. Don't notice the inconvenience now (unless I've not been in the car a while and put on a mm in waist size - I have mine adjusted correctly - ie. tight enough almost to be painful)

They bolt on to the side of the seat where the 3 pointer is at the moment.

You will get differing opinions on whether you can retain the 3 point belts. You would definitely need longer bolts and many people (on the forums) suggest that this may put extra stress (or something like that) through the bolts making them less reliable.

Personally the reason I binned the 3 pointers were that I didn't know where the harnesses would lie when wearing the old belts.

The passenger harness can be a pain with a passenger as it is most likely that they don't have a clue how to do them up. They also moan as they think you have done them up too tight. Also not kid friendly.

So.... how plausible to go for the full bifta harness for the driver and keep the three point for the pax, (child seat friendly)

I would still need at least one extended bolt I think for the top pax side, everything else would be ok?

Also... Crutch straps..... (down Shug).. how to mount them.. seen crutch bars but they dont look strong enough?
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

You only want to fit a crotch strap if you KNOW that you have your lap belts done up properly.

If they aren't it's a tearful experience as I found out braking for the hairpin

Crutch straps need holes drilled through the floor (the crossmember the seat is bolted to - not the thin alloy under the seat) Also need seats that suit them properly - would not want to just cut a hole in a standard one, as it'd weaken it.

i think Dan did a genial job with the RLC seats thanks very much - held me in place during my Dukes of Hazard manouvre at Charade, and frequently re-arranged my nuts under high braking antics  :D

My seat has the hole for the crutch strap already... I think you can get a cross bar that bolts on the the seat runner points but not sure about it..

Think that was a Lotus Motorsport option too, some brackets that fit to the seat runners. I'd feel safer with the lap and crutch straps located to different bolts, but I guess Lotus tested it okay.

(would also be cheaper to drill a couple of holes and use spreader plates)

Lotus motorsport seats came with fixed mount kit that has bolt holes for the crotch strap as the seat has the center slot. Fixed seat makes it alot more difficult to get in and out of the car though.
The bolts for harnesses are 7/16" UNF, same as the 3 point seat belt bolts, if you do end up using smaller bolts they need to be sleeved.
