It will be good hearts and minds for S_E, plus an eyeopener for joe public that have never been out on a circuit in a trackday car before.

Stuart can arrange the system, with 35 cars, each one would be able to take out four pax in 30 mins, so over 100 hopefully happy punters.

Sounds great, did I mention I am up for this? :P

Just had the first e-mail from Stuart, who is obviously keen to make it a special Scottish Lotus occasion.

tut

"Hi tut,

Good to speak today. I am keen to really make a huge Lotus celebration at the Classic SpeedFair in June and outline the vision at the moment.

I have meetings with Club Lotus next week, intend visiting Donington in March and have a stand at Stoneleigh Race Retro too, so content will be added too, as the weeks and months go by.

The idea at the moment is:

7 June – Duns / Chirnside / Duns Castle
A major gathering of Lotus and key cars and people associated with Jim Clark, for a road closure parade on Duns High Street, followed by a major dinner at Duns Castle.

8 June - Knockhill

All key cars, people and owners descend on Knockhill for a major element of the Classic event. Track parade opportunities of special cars, owners open track time (30 mins) & interviews. The national and local owners club want it to be the LARGEST EVER GATHERING OF LOTUS EVER IN SCOTLAND. Depending upon numbers, we want to have a track invasion of Lotus for a mass photoshoot of all cars on track together, which should be spectacular.

I will keep you posted of all the developments, but feel free to call 07971 617*** or 01383 745601 anytime for an update.

Regards,

Stuart Gray"

Bob

Hate to take advantage of my position, but guess who is number one on the must attend list?

tut

ps wonder what I need to wear for the major dinner at Duns Castle?

I still have the last suit I bought for my first wedding in 1966, kipper lapels and bell bottom trousers, and a pair of black Bristow shoes. Come to think of it, that combination is probably back in fashion.
