M9 Standing Water Claims Another Victim
Doesn't look too bad really.
Glad you're ok though, most important thing. Hopefully you'll be back out on the road in no time.

Bad luck - glad you are ok though.
Is there not a case for claiming/ sueing local authority for poorly maintained roads - can certainly be done for potholes - don't know if flooding would be classed as 'act of God'? Maybe worth talking to insurance company about aportioning of blame - then again maybe I am talking bollox.

Thinking the same even although I dont own a lotus yet and wondering if the Exiges 0048's would result in more problems in the currant weatherhaggis catcher wrote:This is beggining to get me worried, with all these accidents happening. If i am correct thats three cars in the last four weeks that have spun on wet roads.

In relation to the posts about people being scared of their cars in this weather, just take it easy and be very gentle with the control inputs. The cars aren't inherantly dangerous, but the characteristics of the car are such that input can be exaggerated and get you into trouble. Drive smoothly, and gently in the conditions and you'll be fine - look at the McKeann 'driving god' thread that Robin posted up ... he survived snow & black ice on the A68, so I'm sure the rest of us can survive a bit of rain on the motorway...

Yup - smooth control inputs, makes you a better driver as well. you'll notice the really quick guys on track coax the extra speed out without unduly unsettling the car - that translates into safer road driving too.
That said, in some situations, you really are just a passenger.

The standing/cross-running water on the M9 between Linlithgow and Edinburgh is pretty bad after even some reasonable rainfall, never mind the stuff we have been getting recently. As well as you and CraigieB in the last few months I have heard of 2 others that have had crashed this winter on this part of road due to this. Not sure about the suing thing but an enquiry (rant?) at the council wouldn’t go amiss to see if anyone else has done likewise. Not sure what will come out of it though...

I believe Police crash statistics are fed to road agencies and can (should ) result in remedial action being considered to improve black spots, ie. shellgrip surface on corners. However I suspect that rather than inprove the drainage the most likely outcome would be to stick a camera up to deal with the problem (and generate some cash into the bargain).
