Interestingly my well treaded 48R's seemed to be as good or better than the standard road tyres in the very wet conditions.

Also very controllable as I never managed to spin, even when I was sure that it had to let go.

I tried A039s which should have been very good in the conditions - spoilt by the vibration issue which on closer inspection afterwards seems to be due to a slightly off centre left front tyre (from thread on exiges.com this problem crops up with 048s too). Made it a bit unpredictable on braking and turn in. I was also maybe being over cautious as car gets traded this week (for another Exige I hasten to add), so was making sure I did not fill it with gravel and KH bog dirt (or worse) in its final outing. Plenty traction with the 039s though, and at the hint of a dry line these things were obviously starting to get some heat in and grip well.
Agree with Tut, a set of the dry track tyres with near full tread depth can work pretty well in wet conditions too (I noticed it with R888) so long I guess as standing water does not overwhelm them.

Due to a more money than sense moment, a new Exige S PP which should be delivered this week. As soon as run in, will get on track to see how it compares with old one, expect should be significantly quicker than the n/a.

"Forget the ‘quite possibly’ you read in the opening paragraph: the Exige S now is the finest British sports car on sale today. And so for those in the fortunate position of ordering a new one, the Performance Pack isn’t an option after all – it’s a must-have."

Black, same as last one. Wife would probably not have noticed I'd changed it had it not been for Mastercard anti-fraud people calling home to check I had really made a hefty deposit payment to MMC..........
Took what MMC had coming for March, choices were kermit the frog green (a bit too green), white (a bit too white) and good old reliable black.
Meant to be good, now just need to work on learning how to drive it properly. I like the idea of the big brakes too. Although std with RS4.2 pads OK, I did find them getting rumbly after a few dry laps. Reports of the APs are very favourable, although possibly overkill. Launch control appears pointless, but I suppose could try at one of John Stewart's Alford events.
Cheers.

George

It will be good to see you again at the track. I kind of liked the Green Exige when I visited the dealer last time. It may be toooo loud to use as a daily car but IMO will look great on tracks.

The new car should be a significant improvement over your current one.

Let me know how you like it after the first service.

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

George

You can not have an overkill of brakes on track.

Bite and no fade makes for a happy session.

hey George

Silverstone is a great circuit and as McApe says worth a trip. We didn't race the full GP version, but i enjoyed the it, and that fact that we raced the week before the GP made watching that way more enjoyable than it had ever been previously.

Its a wide track, with generous run off in most places, which makes it ideal for pushing your limits, as if it all goes wrong, you've usually room to sort it all out before you hit anything.

Long trek down though :(

was quality having 2 atoms on track! I was pretty happy to escape with it in 1 peice, and my joy of the purchase has grown considerably. A few things to sort before the SIDC. The rear suspension adjustment was properly seized - but its loosened off now, although new screws will be needed. Will be checking the geo also and adjusting the ride height before the next one

a pleasure with regards to the pax lap :thumbsup
