Looking forward to this ! I think it's also worth noting that the road between Strathaven and Kaimes is one of my favourites which will guarantee a good day even if you are just coming to spectate !
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Cheers John. I'll need to count up the numbers later and post a list of all those going so far.

Killiebeers wise, one of the places I had thought of for the food and preliminary pinting has closed for a couple of weeks for a refurb; it's only been open for 18 months after having the best bit of a million spent converting it FFS. As it was rather nice anyway, I wont make any plans until it reopens and we can see what it's like.

Not been up at kames for ages either, i'll need to pop up soon and see how thaings are with the developments they are doing - plans are afoot for civilised toilets and a shower block. Spectators are more than welcome along too.

Spent the day at Kaimes today, sneaking in a bit of practice. Didn't expect much, but it turned out to be really good fun especially when it dried out. Different to a normal track because it is so narrow, but very grippy and surprisingly confidence inspiring allowing the Atom to be pushed hard by the end of the day. Apart from just the latter part of the long (!!) straight where 4th was needed everything was in 2nd & 3rd. All very manic as the distance between corners is short. Very addictive driving. Max speed of 80 - 90mph in the Atom so fast enough to feel it, but overall very safe I thought. No doubt AndyG will exceed 100 in the same place!

DEFINATELY RECOMMENDED.

The place is fairly basic compared to KH, but there is catering. Not great facilities for spectators although good viewing points while sat in the car are available if the weather's bad. EACC will be investing a wedge of Lottery money in future I believe. One car at a time running today, and join the queue after your 3 laps to go again. They can run 2 at a time apparently which would be great.

Woody, do you know if EACC will be supplying timing gear on your day? They had it set up today which made it feel more like a competition than a track day. Adds to the fun and beer talk afterwards.

Sounds like a good day George, glad you enjoyed it. I couldn't make it up, but I did take a trip up on Friday to see what's been happening at the track. It's certainly had a fair bit of work done to the grounds, but there's still some way to go! The new toilets and showers should really improve things; they should be in place by the SE day. Glad you found it quite grippy; when I took a drive round on Friday it was clear there hadn't been much round it for a while. The last time it was resurfaced through, I remember it was done with F1 grade seamless tar, so once there have been a few days ran, the track will be grippy. Gordon who is looking after the EACC side of things for me was very keen to see your car up at one of the practice days :D . Do you remember if they done a noise check, someone has asked if there is one, there never used to be, but I forgot to ask Gordon the other day. Two cars are only allowed on track at one time when the track is full marshalled and has the ambulance sitting. As we only need two first aiders (provided by the club) we'll only be running one car at a time.

The track now uses a catering firm to run the kitchen; I wasn't going to bother with the kitchen as it used to be ran on a voluntary basis, but we can now get someone up for the day, will have a look into it in a bit more detail. The timing gear is run by one person, Stan, who covers a lot of the other sprint days as well. Again, the timing equipment is extra as we have to pay his time and the hire of the equipment. Most of the days I have ran in the past have had no timing as the demand wasn't there, so keeping that in mind, Stan's limited availability at the weekends and an eye on the costs I decided not to book it. We can always use a stopwatch amongst ourselves anyway.

Hi Cat

Most definately. Its not a competitve event, and will be a great laugh. Very safe also as its only 1 car out on track at a time.

See top of previous page (or page 3 of the thread).

You'll all have a blast there and the run down is good too (if you take the right road).

Some of the sprint/hillclimb guys were there recently... :D
