audi R8 diesel
just browsing through the net and found an article about audi bringing out the new r8 supercar in a diesel version
i dunno what you guys think but i think it will be funny to hear a supercar sound like a transit van lol if i had a spare 70k i dont think it will going towards a diesel supercar.

Re: audi R8 diesel
They do really well in the Le Mans series / at Le Mans with their TDI cars, maybe it's the way forward...
Besides, how cool would you be towing some caravan/trailer/whatever in your high torque supercar

I saw a red R8 in Waterloo Street (GLW) yesterday. First time I've actually seen one out and about. It didn't really strike me as a thing of beauty, and, the fact I had to specifically point it out to the wife suggests it didn't really strike her either (she normally spots Astons & TVR's from 4.7miles).
It did look quite large though (compared to us in the Elise), but ultimately it seemed to blend in as well as an A5 would (maybe it was the colour, think it may have had the red blades too). The term 'supercar' for me is reserved for beautiful temperemental vehicles that are pant wettingly fast, and would get you laid. I think the Audi will meet the pant wetting criteria, probably more so with a diesel, but not sure about the other 3.

I have no signature.

Saw that as well and would have to agree, in the Red it looked like a oversized TT.

I can uderstsnd why audi did it -gives them a justifiable link between race car and road. But it will be a slightly strange driving experience apartently very quiet and massive torque but only revs to 5k. If you are willing to spend 100k on a car why would you worry about your mpg? I would be waiting for the bi turbo v10 it will distroy its sister cars including the lambo

Re: audi R8 diesel
I think that the diesel is going to look alot more purposeful than the R8 does at the moment.
The front splitter/ air vents are certainly more aggressive. Not sure why they did this to differentiate - it can only mean that owners of the petrol version are going to demand a face lift on the existing car............
.......I believe that the Audi Le Mans Diesels dont sound that unlike the pod racers from Star Wars........which is cool.
Id buy one. Definitely. I reckon that Audi have got this Diesel thing sewn up - and I wouldnt mind having a wee shotty cause that kind of clever technology appeals to me....

Have just been out for a test drive in an R8 A friend of mine works with Audi, and he brought one round to the office. Brilliant car to drive, oodles of power, lovely sound track, and very comfortable. A supercar I would love to own!! Much nicer than a 911, although maybe not as stunning as a gallardo.
Off to buy a lottery ticket for tonight, so might be driving one tomorrow!!

The looks are caused by the cooling issues they had apparently the v10 has had the same issues so will wool mean or meaner!

I don't for one minute think a diesel R8 is going to sound owt other than luvverly, and as for mpg, the diesel thing in this case will not be about purely economy but also driveability and also as others have said, a bridge between road and race car. I wouldn't say no, the R8s I've seen on-road have been pretty purposeful although I do wonder about that panel behind the door. Some flame stickers would soon sort that out though...

As previously stated, they are great cars but now sitting gathering dust in your local showrooms.
Some stealers are now giving away their 12% to move them.......and that makes it a relatively cheap supercar
Scotty
Paul G is not allowed one.......Verona wants a new Murray and Murray Kitchen at £30k
I got quite excited yesterday when he told me you had fallen for something black with two 40" cups
Amen
