Having fixed the sensor for the Stack temp. readout am now turning the effort to fixing the water leak.
Definatly at the front 'cos of water on the undertray and floor, looks like offside. So could be a few things like rad, heater, hose clips, hose or (worse still) chassis water rail.
Before I start 'major surgery' can much be seen by just taking out the wheel arch liner or do I have to go the full hog and take the front clam off

On an S1 I'd bet 10p and a Rolo that it's a hose clamp. Worth replacing the lot. I'm not actually sure about access, but it'd be a damn sight easier with the clam off and it only takes an hour or so - would save crawling about on your back with your head in wheelarches...

^+1 if you think its around the rad area and you cant get to it have the clam off, its not that hard. Personally I would check al the hoses and clips rather than repalce but I'm a cheapskate.
If the worst comes to the worst and its the rad then you already have the clam off ready...

Cheers guys (and Kirk

) plan will be wheel arch liner and undertray to see what I can see.
They will have to come off for a 'clam off' jobbie anyway (Oh! Er matron!!)
I replaced all the front rad hose clamps last time I had the clam off so I am fearing the worst....

when my sill pipe went it leaked into the battery box as the water was sealed in the chassis untill it found a way out , it was also a intermitant leak that the rivet would plug the hole for a month or so then drop all its water again drivers sill inside used to get hot with the water spraying onto it and it used to squeak from the sill
horrid job to do aswell
the rad end caps can leak , the heater rad is easy to bypass to check if its at fault, check the rear sill pipe clips are tight as water will run down to the front use an easy blead to ad pressure to the system and you should find the leak good luck

Good tip about the eezi bleed

cooling system is about 15 psi IIRC so will make sure donor tyre is flat(ish)
So where is this (infamous) pop rivet located so I know where to look and will I be able to see it????
As for the wager, I was going to borrow 10p of SWMBO and I was down to my last Rolo as well
