Think out the box. What he needs without doubt is an Alpina. Interesting, rare, individual, great to drive, and far better than the equivalent mainstream BMW. A D3 would make an brilliant daily car - economical and reasonably quick, e.g http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/372244.htm - possibly a bit over budget though, so how about a B3 like this http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/446502.htm.

Some great posts and Uncle Ron passes on his thanks.

Keep them coming.

The last version of the M3 seems to be making the early running so a great idea Mark :thumbsup

Neither do M cars, and they don't have to have auto boxes either.

Thinking about it now, the M3 would be a cracking choice :thumbsup Though I always have a soft spot for Cerberas.

968 Club Sport? Assuming you could find a decent one, not many about.

This one: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/422369.htm looks nice, good number plate too (although that might raise the price to 20K :lol: ).

Or in yellow: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/462876.htm 8)

Thinking laterally .........If i had £20k i'd buy 2 cars - one shopping trolly and one fun thing.

How often will uncle ron want to have max fun AND need 4 seats in the same journey? Might be totatlly wrong but IMHO the two car approach would suit most people better than the one "compromise" car. This especially works if he good with a spanner. :thumbsup

So now that the practicality is out of the way i'd say;
- Elise
- Caterham
- Cerbie
- Tamora

:thumbsup

EDIT : Just reread the post and it's clear i'm an idiot. :oops: I'd still say buy a trevor though. Tamoras are silly silly silly cheap at the moment
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?
