Leaving Ones Brain at Home

OK, so I just nearly caused a head on collision. I'm gonna put my hands up to this one. Normally I consider myself a fairly cautious driver, but is it just me or does anyone else get days when you leave your brain at home. The type of day when your mind isnt on any specific given task and you really should have stayed in bed.

Was looking to over take a slow moving lorry not far from the house on a B road. The road dips so you cant see on coming traffic but you can see the road beyond this quite a bit in the distance. So sitting out to see if there is anything coming and giving it time to see if anything is gonna apear over the rise. Wait a couple of seconds, nothing appears, looks clear, so start the manouver. Blow and behold 2 oncoming cars! How the fik I managed to brake and get back behind the lorry is a complete mystery, as is where the fikin cars came from, as I should have seen them WAYYY in the distance.

Think thats the closest one ive had, and I wasnt even ragging it.
Makes you think!

I feel like a right tit. If I could apopogise to drivers involved, I would.

Anyone else had brain out moments that you look back on and think, wht the fik was I thinking!!!

We have all been there at some point, mistakes happen and you were able to avoid the accident that you nearly caused so apart from soiled trolleys no harm done.

had a bit of a dodgy drive back home there from Portree - in particular the stretch between fort bill and just by glencoe...
some scary moments indeed!

theres been times in the elise (mine especially) that you just cant see enough due to being so low!

Wasn't the big dip in the road near Crombie Country Park was it? I have seen some REALLY close nearly-head-on collisions there. Scary stuff.

Had one of those days a while back was coming back from the chippy ,going round a bend with can of pepsi in one hand and roll and fritter in the other.
Road was wet it was covered leafs, spun the car ( pug306 not elise) right round over the other side up the curb and just missed a big f***in tree .
definately a brain at home that day .It happens

nope, wasnt there, although very familiar with that stretch after pranging the S1 at the Crombie Den corner

Twas the incline in the road just before you reach the Chapelton Crossroads, youll know it well Jim!
If I had been in the family wagon I would def have seen the cars, being so low n the Exige def didnt help.

I had a moment like that recently. I borrowed my wife's diesel mondeo for a trip down to North Wales. On the way back I got off the A74M at the A70 to head back to Livingston. Overtaking a car, I looked ahead saw a truck coming and thought no problem, I'll get past in time. Pulled out and foot down, only it didn't accelerate quite as I was anticipating and I had that moments thought that I wsan't going to get passed and wouldn't be able to slow down and pull in behind. Fotunately I made it, and it wasn't too close. Still scary though

Always gratified at the number of times I've thought 'There's enough room for an overtake here.....' but hung off, only to see someone hooning it round a bend towards me.....and always amazed at the number of people who will indicate to let you by, just on a blind corner/summit.

I had one day when my brain was so completely somewhere else I nearly let one of my more unpredictable pupils crash my car twice, first at a roundabout then later they nearly pulled out into a lorry, I'm usually so quick at a stopping them too. After that I cancelled the rest of my lessons for the day, think it was the only way my car was still going to be in one piece by the evening.
Guess we all have days where it would be safer if we had just not gone out the house.
