I've transported manys a bike in my day... that's going to add a shedload of drag and lift the front end massively, not to mention the fact you've got hooks going in to your wheel arches! The drag from the bike will stress the straps, which will stress the wheelarches. . . I'd venture you'd be cheaper to but a £500 shed for the bikes rather than damage the clam!

Yeah I needed a bike rack for the Elise so I got one, I call it the Honda Accord Doesnt damage my clam at all ! But as bike racks go was rather expensive.
