SE Motorsport championship

Post by Dominic » Tue May 06, 2008 10:25 pm

I am now a director of Scottish Sporting Car Club Ltd   . They run a sprint or two, autotests, rallies etc throughout the year. I have suggested having a class at their events for Lotuses (or elises / exiges). They have agreed to include such a class. This would allow us to run an SE championship, consisting of a couple of sprints, autotests and even a scatter rally. The purpose of this post is to get a feel for the demand for an SE chamionship, and get some feedback. Ta.

There is no reason why we could not have 'newcomers' etc... awards within the class too. Maybe even go as far as a se7ens' class..... maybe....

For sprints there already is a class (or even classes if you include non original engined Elise {which you should of course}) . . . and all sprints/hillclimbs support it /them . . . you could just take the results from these events and build them into your own championship without really having to have a special class . . . autotests and other thing may be different of course . . .

You'd either be in A8 (everybody apart from tut and the honda mob) or Sports Libre (tut and the honda mob) I think, but the actual entered class is irrelevant if you just take the times from the event (regardless of class) and apply them to a scoring system yourself . . .

On that subject we're trying to get some sprint newbies on track up at Lossie this year on jock7s : http://www.jock7s.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=58

You may have to register to read.

No reason why that is a se7en specific invite at all, just something we were taking about over the weekend at East Fortune . . . anybody welcome.

I found sprints and hillclimbs to be a bit boring, loads of standing around waiting for a 30 second blast up the hill, although the element of cmpetition and cameraderie was good!

I am tempted to do the KH TimeAttack round, maybe even the Scottish saloon championship!?

Up for the sprint side of it, possibly, but not the scatter rally or autotest.

Although could always use the Elise for autotesting.

Look forward to hearing how you get on with it.

Might be struggling to make the dates given we're already in to May though

We are maybe looking at a few events this year, with the view to running more to include SE class next year.

Keep the feedback coming :thumbsup

Cool - would be a good starter pool for people, before deciding whether they'd want to jump in the Scottish Championship. I'll deffo be up for coming to a few events and stretching my competition muscle again.
