Hope it wasn't you..... (Orange VXT in a field)

Post by Rich H » Sat Apr 22, 2006 12:53 am

The guy was called Micheal Wand IIRC. t'was a Vx turbo 2 miles east of KH in a field :(

Span off on a level dry gentle ish LH, took out a road sign (Put an end to the crash structure) and rattled down a 2' bank of fcukoff big pointy rocks (Fcuked up the backend) and through a wire fence (rusty wire had a go at sawing through the LHS windscreen surround and took out the front clam) Spinning all the way. He was shaken but mostly unhurt. A paramedic on his way home from KH had stopped and a big fellow in a vectra. Stayed there for an hour and a half or so until the cops (5 jam sandwiches and a riot van FFS!) and an ambulance finally showed up.

When me and the farmer tried to extricate it from the wire fence (It was caught under the bonnet which had nearly been ripped off) the towing eye post thing was broken in half and the floor of the crash structure was in bits. Oh and the roof was a really tight fit (or is that normal?)

From what I could see it will be a write off, it will need at least:
Clams front & rear
Crash structure
Windscreen
Bonnet + boot lid
2 rear alloys + 4 tyres
All 4 rear wishbones, hubs and toe links.

Chassis looked straight though.

Looked pretty new too. Cant remember what year, 55 plate I think.

Micheal, if your out there, hope everything works out ok, it's only plastic and metal.
I was the bloke in the dodgy grey basball cap

The 4" post was folded in half and ripped out of the ground! Dunno how fast he was going but it must have been quick!

He was in a neck brace just in case, but he seemed just badly shaken up, pretty understandable really.

Don't know what's going on with the emergency services in Fife, but I witnessed an accident at the crossroads just south of KH earlier in the evening, three casualties, injuries were an old guy with severe chest, pains, one with broken ribs, and an old dear with shock and concussion, first ambulance to 35 minutes, the second another 20 minutes, I left after an hour and still no sign of police or fire brigade, you would like to think that they could get there a bit quicker than that, especially as all three services are located less than 4 miles from both incidents.

TBH we couldn't work out exactly where we were and gave a pretty poor description, but when the cops did turn up they had been told 2 miles north of KH FFS. They were told to follow the road from J4 - KH but decided not to

Sounds like the smash you saw was alot worse, hope they weren't too badly hurt in the end. :(
