bloody long shot but hey ...
I bought these dust caps from halfrauds a while back , they are black anodised fcuk and to be fair are pretty heavy for dust caps!
Long shot I know but could they effect how the wheel is balanced? Still kinda trying to figure out how the 85 "wobble" has magically appeared from nowhere .
fair shout or daft as.?

I swear these bloody things way a fair bit !, Just though with all the weights used in the inside of the wheel for balancing, that these bloody fitba studs , may cause some interferance , they defo weigh more than some of the balencing weights Id say ....
I had to replace the hideous silver ones the guy before me had left on .
Anyways as I said long shot
25p black plastic ones maybe going back on
Ps. Id just like to restate, they are black anodised caps , just incase you lot think they are blue or red ones ........ I know how you lot would jump on that !
Anyone know were I can pick up some flashing ones ?

Arriving broadside, in a cloud of smoke......

Clearly if you remove them you will find out, so do that. Assuming it makes no difference:
It's likely you have lost a balance weight, possible you have a small buckle in the wheel, or less likely you have a bit of play somewhere in the front end suspension.
If you remove the wheels, can you see any witness marks where a balance weight has fallen off?
Either way I would get them rebalanced first anyway (unless you've done that already). This should show up any buckling, assuming the person doing the balance has a brain.
If the wobble is still there after rebalancing and checking for buckling then you're down to an inspection of the suspension and steering looking for small amounts of play that can cause this at certain speeds.
Cheers,
Robin

Re: bloody long shot but hey ...
My Panda 100HP which suffers much abuse and seldom gets cleaned developed a bad vibration from the rear over the winter - pretty sure it was wheel balance, assumed a weight was lost. When I got round to taking wheels off to get balanced, noticed a whole load of baked on crud inside the inner rim on both rear wheels. Gave them a good clean, refitted and vibration gone. Does not take a lot of weight imbalance to cause vibration or wobble.

There are lots of posts on exiges.com about the "A048 85mph wobble" - see here for example.......

another thing to add to the list then , I presume the "wobble " wont actually do any harm ?
