Split General Chat Forum?

Wouldn't it be better as a "General Car Chat" and "Drivel" rather than a Lotus specific forum?
I'm in favour of splitting it but I think a "Lotus chat only" forum would die pretty soon.

I think it works well on seloc and I rarely ever look at the chapman arms section so all the (non car related) crap is filtered out for me and that's why I like it.

I'm going to throw my hat into the ring and suggest that the status quo is maintained but that the suffix "MCD"* is added on the subject headline.

Using this system it would be able to see at a glance what the content was and has the added benifit that it could be added to certain members user name too - (thinking out loud Noops, Victor & Ken as suitable candidates)

OTOH SELOC has huge traffic that warrants two forums. I don't think we have enough and that splitting the forums will dilute the general feel of the place.

That said, I'll go along with the majority and this is just my opinion - can't please all of the people all of the time.

Pretty obvious how to avoid threads like that, titles. Don't click on it if you're not interested - seems simple enough... Slagging matches can occur in any thread, lotus related or otherwise. Not sure what point you're making - should people stop chatting informally at all? Pretty boring group, if that was the case...

Were you not the bloke howling about censorship when we asked to curb swearing and nudity? Seems an odd reversal of opinion?

erm.. what am I wanting censored?! Two forums aint censorship. I'm just saying that I'd prefer to come here an read a forum about general Lotus stuff, but can't without wading thro junk. And you can't always tell what it's going to be about from the subject. I've seen other forums try the NLC type thing in the subject and it simply never works.
Hey I like reading junk sometimes, I just wouldn't mind having a choice.

It is the Forum equivalent of putting you pants in the sock drawer... If you open the sock drawer and find a pair of pants do you go and complain about it..? no your just thankful your misses has done your washing...

So just now we have one big drawer for pants and socks.. you want two drawers now because you cant be bothered hunting for your favorite banana hammock. And you want your mum (Admin) to come in and sort them out into the right drawer for you.

Your mum is far to busy with her own important stuff to be worrying about you finding your socks...

Well Seloc did it and it works. They realized you either have Seloc Chat and Chapman arms, or you only have Chapman arms. At the minute we only have Chapman arms.

Which is clearly what people want!?

P.S. I had suggested merging in the Technical section to the Lotus chat forum, not sure how that fits into ur sock drawer?!

I still think you can avoid the "junk" just by reading the name of the topic, its pretty obvious what is Lotus related, and what isnt. And i think dividing the forum into 2 seperate parts would kill the overall feel of general chat, See'ing as most of us post on non Lotus topics aswell as just Lotus ones

Its good to have some non lotus related banter in there aswell as just Lotus focussed chit chat.
