Won't Go Out In The Wet

Post by sam » Fri Jun 27, 2008 5:59 pm

Why am I like this?
Been busting a bollock to take the Elise out but with all the rain etc I just cant bring myself to do it
Its like some sort of disorder, Been sitting under the cover for over 2 weeks now which cant be doing it any good but because Its a second car and my first car is decent (TT) although some may beg to differ I dont need to use it if weather is bad.

Are they more people like me or am I a unique freak?

In a way I can understand. I have a 360 which I won't drive in the rain if I can avoid it as it takes me ages to clean afterward.

However, I drive the club racer in any weather.

Very hard for most of us to understand your condition Sam, but I do hope that you get over to it.

Begs the question why?

Must admit sometimes I go through precious phases and persuade myself:

1). It's a PITA to keep darker colours clean- looks like it's got chicken pox after a few drops of rain,
2). It's good for keeping the mileage down,
3). I'm less likely to bin it.... my skills in the wet need a little 'polishing' (although that doesn't improve if you just avoid the issue, obviously  )

The first one is just vanity/laziness. The other two are more pragmatic in that if I bin or break it it I ain't got the funds to sort it just now...

But mostly I don't give a toss, don't wash it, and take my chances with the undergrowth. Couldn't last a fortnight, regardless of the weather.

Next time it rains, get behind the wheel, and start her up. If you can resist grinning and reaching for the gearstick, sell the thing.

It takes me about 60 mins to clean the Exige so shouldn't be that bad!

Get going. :D

I fear this may lead to another "Should I keep the Lotus" thread...

Just take it easy in the wet - nothing more too it. :thumbsup

I dont like going out in the car when its very wet .Just dont see the point of tip towing around . The weather has been rubbish this week but been out three times in between the showers , the roads dry very quickly .

I will be shi**ing bricks tomorrow ( later today ) on the way to Knockhill if its very wet on 48's . Maybe that why I am still awake

The car will get dirty even if you go out in the dry , flies , brake dust , large bricks thrown up by other cars  so you might as well just drive it and enjoy cleaning it .

To be honest I guess it's the same with me and snow - won't drive in it after a few scares.

Oh and rain like we had last year  Where my street fludded for a couple of days

Just get out and enjoy the car Sam - rain or shine. Forget about using full throttle in the rain (i.e. accelerate slowly), stick to the 30mph and slow right down when turning :thumbsup

If you are worried about your own driving skills then get yourself to some driving training to boost your confidence- sure eveyone will recommend it.

:cheers

I don't have the luxury of not taking the Elise out in the wet/snow seeing as it's my only car.
Just got to be a bit gentle on the throttle/brakes.
Although it can also be great fun, particularly in the snow :D
