The more pictures I see of the Europa the more it grows on me.

Interesting you mention the flat spot, I thought they would have sorted that by now as it was incredibly frustrating on the map they used for the VXT. I never liked the engine note either, but then I never really got to grips with the engine all the time I had my VX. Supposedly a Milltek exhaust makes a nice difference to the sound, not sure what's available for the Europa

Very mixed reviews of the TMS maps in the vx world, although it's got to be better than the standard map with a hoooooge hole in it.
if it REALLY bugs you courtenay sport would be a good place to visit

Interesting. I was under the impression the Thorney re-map was developed to eliminate the flatspot, until i drove it.....
Courtenay you say? Hmmmmm........*scratches chin*......
TMS map is a modified superchips map - how much it's been modified has been debated many times, but it's not the bespoke piece of art that Mr Thorne of TMS would have you beleive. In saying all that it is meant to be MUCH better than the standard map that vaux.... sorry lotus ship it with

Courtenay have a brilliant reputation though.
Got to admit i do like the europa a lot - a very under-rated car. Look forward to seeing it in the flesh soon

Tom,
The Europa is still an Elise at heart so you are most welcome indeed on here! You may even be able to scoop up some tech support given the common DNA and the growing number of VX owners who'll know about the basics of the engine.
As for re-map, is yours the one Lotus supplied? I was led to believe it really did sort everything out. Wonder what the Lotus tuner experts like Dave Andrews et al make of the problem, worth a call perhaps? Or indeed Courtenay, as others have said.
Great in silver, by the way, very classy.
Enjoy

Cheers for the advice, this is all interesting reading. I rekon I'll need to comb the VX220 forums to get the lowdown on this flatspot issue. I have to say it doesn't bug me too much, just a momentary dip as the needle moves past 4k. Not in every gear i might add.....
Yeah, I like the Europa's rarity and also the fact that the motoring press were so unkind to it on release. Mostly to the marketing/pricing I think. £10k off list price with 2.5k miles on the clock it suddenly becomes a much better deal.....
I always go for the underdog

Two main VX forums are vx220.org.uk and type116.com but be aware that TMS own the former and the latter is full of grumpy old men who moan about the fact that no-one understands them or their silly plastic bricks (that'll be me then

)

Hi Tom,
You didn't happen to be driving through Polmont on Sunday evening?
Was out for a walk and was passed by a silver Europa... I didn't even realize what is was until it was past me!! Certainly got my attention, very sweet looking car indeed!

Car looks great in silver, still to see one in the flesh, but imo it certainly seems to suit the silvers and greys a lot better than the blues and greens
Have fun with it

He did have it done and reckoned that it transformed the car.
He was not too happy on FF6 with the characteristics of throttle and cam changeover which is why he had it remapped.
