The internal dimensions are : 13 M x 6 M with double height ceiling to take 4 x post lifts. It is large enough to be an average size detached house if a future owner decides to do the conversion It took nearly 3 years from plan to finish.

My garage floor is slightly higher (approx 1.5 inch) at the back to stop water coming in (specified at the design stage)

Here is my garage, built in August 07 to enable me to go out and buy my Elise.

It's 5x6 metres which is a feeble effort compared to Mass and Ruadh08 but swallows 2 cars easily enough with room to spare for the tools etc. In practice it's only ever the Lotus which is in here, the rest has been taken over with the kids bikes and building materials for stuff that I've been working on in the house. The other 2 cars have to sit outside on the driveway but one day I'll add a big shed in the back garden and keep the garage exclusively for 2 of the cars.

I went for a Hormann sectional door with an electric opener which is great. I also fitted some IP65 halogen downlighters around the edge of the garage connected to 2 x PIR sensors. Handy at night as they illuminate when you drive up towards the garage.

Like Mass's, mine has a 1.5" run on the floor as well. I think that is standard practice, to prevent it filling up with water.

There is a forum dedicated in just garages A huge amount to discuss once you really get into it, the ventilation, temperature & humidity control, drainage, power supply, floors, equipments & tools etc etc

As I mentioned before, there is a magazine called "Garage Life" in Japan with different garages and car collections in each issue. Some garages are truly awesome. Very inspiring indeed.

My aim is to take it to the same quality & functionality as a professional garage .
