Don't slag me too much....

Post by drb5 » Fri Jul 25, 2008 8:10 pm

....but we ended up getting a VX200 turbo. :)

If you don't mind, i'll hang out in here though, as you all seem so friendly and it's a much busier forum too. 8)

A good performing car, and easy to get the ECU re-mapped to give around 265hp.

And even though we take the piss out of Jon and Martin, they are really an Elise in disguise.

Well done but why not an exige?

Are you going to be tracking it soon?

Deffo not a problem sir!

Stay and enjoy the banter and occasional social meets and tech advice (very very occasional in your case but maybe the aircon systems are common!!)

We owe a lot to the VX...without which the S2 might have been a longer time coming and S1s would be far too common instead ;-)

Lol many thanks guys. :D

We've been considering a Larini or Milltek for it, as it's just too quiet, but would prefer to hear how boomy they are on cruise, before we spend the cash. I'm sure the Elise/Exige will sound a fair bit different, but the ones Graham let us hear, sounded fantastic. Maybe i can talk father into a remap after that....."it definately gives better MPG". :D

Mass, when we visited Graham in at Lotus, dad simply prefered the back end of the Elise a lot more than the Exige. He liked the more subtle look of the Elise, BUT the VX was a bargain. Ok it was Arnold Shark that was selling it, but with 20k miles, 2 previous owners and on a 56 plate, for 16.5k it was very well priced. We figured it wasn't about to lose much value and at that money(ie: not above 20k), it's not a real problem IF we did track it. I'm keeping an eye out for a set of mega cheap alloys for it and get some semi slick stickies on them. 8)

It's silver with red and black leather. No air-con or central locking, so i don't really know what spec it is.....probably the basic. :D Tbh, i didn't even know there WERE different specs till i was reading the handbook yesterday, to find a section on the central locking. :?

Got it Swissoled up yesterday and went for a run, but the sun had disappeared behind the clouds, so i never got any pics. Will get some soon though. :)

Drove a VXT a while ago and it's a good car. Only thing that annoyed me TBH was the run on when you lift the throttle - I assume that's why dump valves are fitted to these turbo thingys... Oh, and the brakes.

That said, they have to be the performance bargain of the century at the mo - I daresay you've picked it up at exactly the right time, before some mag does a feature on how cheap you can get them and we see a wee surge in interest again.

Yer, the run on with the revs is very annoying, but it's been spoken about on vx220.org and i'm waiting on hearing how they all got their issues fixed. We'll speak to the local Vauxhall dealer we know well and see what they reckon. The brakes, i haven't tested TOO much yet. :D

I've just been trying to lift off the accelerator, before dipping the clutch for the gearchange. Seems to help if you time it right.

Dave, its your car so VX, Elise or Exige, it doesn't matter to us. What DOES matter is now you have a car you can enjoy driving :thumbsup

Let me know when you are coming up to KH for the pax promised

Enjoy.

:cheers
