Non Lotus Content...a wee trip.

Post by EliseR » Sun Jul 27, 2008 10:46 pm

Hi Guys,

First of all, apologies if this isn't the done thing, Just wanted to share my first trip in the Ford Freda (Mazda Bongo)! I swapped my Jag XKR for this erm...camper thingy...don't ask. The XKR was falling apart and had done 60k, this whilst the same age as the Jag, has only done 8,000 miles, and is much easier on the fuel, and gives us a lot of freedom come the weekend. 0 to 60 I am afraid to say, is a snorefest! :D

Anyhoo! We left early doors Saturday and headed up the A9 towards Aviemore. After having a scout around the village, and a bite to eat, we arrived at the campsite in Rothiemurchus. Lovely campsite with modern toilets / showers (operated by a swipe card system), and a good mix of motorhomes, caravans, lodges and tents. All the different types of setups are in their own little section. I really enjoyed our pitch, backing onto lovely tall trees, lots of wildlife about, and plenty of space between ourselves and the neighbours!

Here we are setup:

A few images from a mapped walk which goes through the campsite (6 mile walk, which can link with other similarly long walks):

About 3 mile from the campsite (give or take), Loch An Eileen. Lovely long walk around here too, with an old castle in the loch, and the chance of seeing an Osprey.

We had an absolutely fantastic time, and are loving the new found freedom this quirky campervan brings us! :) I know this is probably a much slower pace to the normal on here, but there may be a few camping fans reading! :)

It's easy mate, 3 settings you need to crack, and your sorted.

Aperture
Shutter Speed
ISO

Its childsplay, I promise.

Pffffffffft, yeah yeah I believe that. Ive seen lots of different work and it can't be that easy because there's a lot of crap pictures floating about.

I guess half the battle is affording a decent camera. Mabye bit of time I will save up for one, always wanted a decent camera. Ahh if only I was loaded :D

Really nice pics :thumbsup

I've crashed (not the body damage type) in my mate's bongo a couple of times. It's a great setup without costing a fortune. Nice work.

Holy heck Gary - those are awesome shots!

I was up at Lochnagar at the weekend and I wish I could've snapped shots like that. I'll bet a better snapper than me would've made them look far more exciting! I'll post em up tonight to show you what I mean.

Was goinna ask what kit you were using .. too impatient so off to click on properties on flickr ;)

Tis very nice :D

Use the D200 as a door stopper now. The low light stuff is incred, you can ramp the ISO up to 6400 and get shots which will print at 6 x 4 with no or very little noise. Will get you an example shortly...

Thanks for posting Gary. Always nice to see something a bit different. I really love the first shot and the rest aren't too shabby either. Are some of them HDR or a Velvia filter or something?
