You can hire a helmet and you'll have a front towing eye already, it's the rears you'll be after but I don't think Stu has any left.
Going to go for it if I can get time of work .

13 elises, ford sierra and a seat leon booked on so far. PMSL if we all get blown away by the rusty old sierra.

who's up for a trip to the noodle bar afterwards??

its in dunfermline, nice little chinese, all you can eat buffet for less than a tenner, parking directly opposite resteraunt. usually a good laugh, can have a couple of beers, some grub and generally rip the piss out of tom for being sh*t slow

I've got a sneaking suspicion the Sierra is a Group A RS500 and will, indeed, blow the arse off you ;)

No.

I don't know if it actually is a GpA RS500, or whether the driver can actually drive it. If both of those are affirmative, you wouldn't see which way it went - trust me on this. But as I don't know the above for sure and I don't seem to have as much money to piss up against a wall as you do, I'll pass. :thumbsup

AFAIK, Woody & I will be heading out for a quick blat - KH is 1.5 hours away from me, using motorways. Don't fancy 3 motorway hours in an evening, when I could be on Ayrshire backroads :)

I know you miss me, but you can see me soon enough, ginger boy ;)

serious question ( on SE2 ) but how quick are old touring cars like these compared to modern ones. coz i'm within 5 seconds of modern touring car laptimes around knockhill.

you seem to reckon i have loadsa cash to piss up against a wall. dunno where you get that idea from. its all invested heavily in cars and trackdays, not pissed up against walls.

Couldnae tell you the actual record from Group A days, but they were IIRC 1000kg, ran slicks (of course) and about 550/600bhp. Yeah, you'd probably stick reasonably close in the corners, but not even Linda-power would let you see where he went when the turbo spooled up.

Current TCs have a serious amount of regulated bits to close up grids (gearboxes, restrictors, skinny slicks, mandated aero) so they are hamstrung a lot by that, timewise.

There was a rapid as f*** R500 out at the last one! It was moving at a serious pace - pretty impressive, although it was a good deal slower at the start of the night.

Better take your adult pampers :D :D :D

Back pages of Evo recently covered the R500 and they mentioned for the road car they had trouble keeping it "down to 100BHP per litre" for the road car so would expect the track cars to be swift.

Was just after the days of R500 when Gabriela Tarquini had his big roll in the Renault @ KH that gave me the sh*t about knockhill the first time I drove it last year.

Yep, it's a black RS500 on semi slicks and hoooooge brakes, it could easily out corner and out-brake me, which I thought was quite impressive. He doesn't have that much straight line speed though, so Andy-shagger will be with him over the straights...
