Another great SIDC track day cheers John :thumbsup

Bit quieter than usual but meant lot's of clear track

Spotted Simon the KH intructor taking N3 TUT for a few laps. Looked as if he was going well. Were you alongside Tut?

Last 45 mins were great running nose to tail with Kenny. He certainly brakes late that's for sure  I need to take more brave pills. Had my bro's mate in as a PAX at the time, he was pretty quiet for last last few laps :D

Yes we both drove and gave each other tips............

The racing background shows though, he was very brutal with clutch and gearchanges.

He also confirmed that no matter how hard you try, you can only get round the Hairpin at a certain speed, and it is always slower than you think you should be taking it.

Also that it is better not to take the kerb at Butchers which I normally do, and get rid of the cone, as it unsettles the car before you straight line the Chicane.

Would still dick him though.

Wow that was good - my first KH and I'm hooked, when is the next one.... big thanks to John for organising it.

Thanks to all for making me feel welcome on my first Loti outing, good to put some faces to names also thanks for the helpful advice and Pax laps, it really did help :cheers

I did take a trip out with the instructor which was invaluable - I highly recommend it, I seemed to be taking different lines every lap (not intentional) until that point.

a mapping session for the car is needed first as its using sooooo much fuel

cheers Will

Will, glad you've enjoyed your day. What were you driving and the MPG you got on the track?

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Great day - thanks John.

After the warm up laps I was a little concerned about the smoke coming from the engine, so decided to use 6k as the change-up point. Had some good laps, but the brakes were going off in a big way - think I need some braided brake lines or something - foot was almost to the floor and that was with giving the car some 10 minute cool-down periods!

Car was going really well apart from the brakes, and the addition of the harnesses made quite a difference - you feel so much more pinned down that it allows you to brake later, weird, but I'm happy with it.

Shame there were no standard rover cars around - I had no chance of keeping up with Tenk and his newly Ohlined, newly A048'ed S2 111S. Good batches of free track for periods though, especially when the drizzle came!

looking for ward to the DP tour :)

Feeling threatened that someone may be using more fuel than you?

Greg - you changed the brake fluid? Braided hoses won't help if the fluid is dead & full of water... If you have, it sounds like they need bled properly.

i was in the red S1 running an Exige engine and base map. On track usage was not really a problem it was the journey down, i used twice as much fuel as Matt in his Exige travelling at exactly the same speed.

Car stinks to, can't drive with the window open as there must be a aero quirk as it comes in the cab :(

Greg,
I'm sure I'll be shot down by clever people....however...
I find the brakes cool much quicker by doing 2 slow laps......on both the exige and the elise......
Glad to see you back sir!

Emerald base map? These do tend to be set pretty rich for safety's sake.

Not shot down mate, agree. But no way should a healthy set of S1 brakes, even totally standard, be heading for the floor in 10 laps. Has to be fluid contamination of some sort...
