fitting the Toyota 2zz-ge engine from the S2 into a S1. Rather than doing the Honda thing, surely his would be a better solution as it's fitted to what is essentually the same chasis.
Initial thoughts are engine mounts, wishbones, rear hubs, engine bay loom, gearbox (obviously) exhaust. What I am not sure about is weather the rear longerons are different as well as the sub frame.
Any thoughts?

i am sure its been looked at mike i understand its too expensive and not viable for a s1
i seen a yota fitted to a si exige i think it was a mr2 motor have lost the photos now but it may of been komo tec it was used as a ring track car you should be able to find it on a search
best one has to be the mazda conversion that was done

The rear subframe is different.
However, you could order the subframe from a 2-11 (which uses the s1 chassis as I understand it) and that would be a good start.
At 16K it would be cheaper to buy a used 111R, though, and put it on a diet, fit uprated dampers and tyres. It will be just as fast as your S1 I would think.
Cheers,
Robin

Re: What do you recon would be involved in .....................
It has to have a Factory/Showroom engine as fitted to that model, though virtually anything can then be done to it, as the Class capacity is unlimited, so it can be S/C or T/C without the x1.4 penalty that the other classes use.

Re: What do you recon would be involved in .....................
Been thinking about the A8 situation, it looks like from 2010 we will have a class structure the same as England which will mean that A8 will be no more. Unless I misunderstand the situation with regard to aligning the championship regs. So from a long term point of view it wouldn't make any difference. That and the Elise as a model came with a yota engine, which means it is still using a "as produced" lotus engine. All be it it was in an S2 and not an S1, I know the car had to be produced with that engine but don't know that it's model specific. Which would save having to change the car, because lets face it the S1 IS the better looking car
. Also the toyots 2zz-GE engine is neither that hard or expensive to get hold of, it appears in alot of cars with a large tuning base surrounding it as well makes it almost ideal candidate for the S1. Don't know that it would still be that expensive to do, second hand parts are around now with a few having been written off. Just take a look at Douglas Valley breakers to see what I mean.

hi mike
yota eng package over on seloc for sale it links to yank e bay its also brand new and pulled out to fit a dura tec supercharged
http://www.secantvehicles.com/powertrain.html
wonder if they use a pg1 as the box is a five speed not very impressive power to weight imo those yota versions must weigh a lot in the states excellent torque though
with the bits you already have i think a nice 1.9 k with t bods would do the job

Re: What do you recon would be involved in .....................
have heard mixed reviews about the scholar 1.9 blocks. One person in particular advises against them due to incosistant machining which makes me a bit warey about spending money in that direction. I am really looking at this from a longer term view i.e. What to do once I have finished the S1 and raced it through next year. Don't think the SC Exige/Elise is worth trying to tune as there are to many issues with cooling for it to be able to make big power.
The 'yota engine looks like it could be the ideal package, good power potential, tuneable, and reliable, gearbox not withstanding. Hence the move from K series to toyota.

have to agree about schollar a mixed bag some fine some not there are other options
the yota lacks torque imo ( never driven one mind ) unless super charged even then its not out standing the k also has good g box options
i have less power but also less weight and more torque than a yota if your at golspie sprint your welcome to try mine ( on road ) see what you think with a short box and t bods i think you will like it , its comming out in october

Craig should be getting around 300hp from his original 218hp Exige if the latest mods work, ie smaller S/C pulley and hopefully Sinclaires re-mapping again of his ECU to match this and Jim's exhaust system.
However it has worked out as a fair wallet full.
