I understand it gets cheaper after 25 ????
I had no points and 1 yr NCB and paid just over half that with Admiral for an S2 Exige @ 22. Phil is only £650 on his S1 Exige so dont know why your insurance is so high? I would be phoning more specialist insurers if I were you.....
Yea I'm 22, 1yr NC, 6k per annum, garaged, no points/crashes for £650 with jj on as 2nd driver. Thats with Bell

Seriously?! I was 26, 1yr NCB, no points, IAM advanced driving certificate, and was about £1100 the first year on my Elise - and that was also with Admiral I'm sure!

So, you were 4 years younger and had a higher insurance car and yet you paid about half what I did with the same company? Eh? And that was when I had an Elderslie postcode! :scratch Did you have a parent on the policy to reduce it? I had to add my mum to get it down to £1100. I genuinely don't understand how you could have got insurance that cheap at that age on an S2 Exige JJ.

It was still about £800 the next year with a specialist insurer.

Was with Chris Knott (and Highway Insurance) last year and sticking with them this year as nobody could beat their quote. Most were double what they were quoting me! Specialists definitely now the way forward, but high street guys still seem to be cheap for some people. Chris Knott didn't add anything for the Stage 2 exhaust mod or for moving from driveway to residents parking. They did hike the price for the move to a Glasgow postcode though.

There is no logic to quotes!
My 1st year with the elise was 26yrs, 6yrs NCB, various driving qualifications, no claims or points - £300
This year was with my current car 28yrs, 7/8yrs NCB, no points one claim 2yrs ago - £600

Just keep shopping around....elephant and Chris Knott will beat any quotes that you have....so do them last!

350 plus 250 compulsary.

I can vouch for JJs insurance, its not just a case of ncb or driver training, a lot has to do with postcode and if its garaged etc

There never is.
Postcode can have a huge impact. Just because you live in a nice area doesn't mean you have a decent postcode in the insurers eyes, they work things differently.
Your occupation can have an effect. And limiting the mileage can half the premiums in come cases.

You really need to shop around though and don't be scared to go back and play them off against each other to see if they will bring it down further.

Elderslie might have been your problem

They were insured in an (according to upmystreet) Acorn1 postcode and I had me and my girlfriend ( trainee lawyer at the time) on it. It went up slightly when I bought the S2 Elise, then down to £500 and something (cant remember the exact amount) with the S1 Exige, then up to £660 from memory for the Honda Elise.

Not sure why you are so shocked, its still a sh1tload of cash for insurance? I`ll dig out the old policies if you want

Neither of them could get anywhere close to the £600 I got with Bell, Elephant just said they couldnt match it even though Id been with them for the last 6 years and they have always been the cheapest by miles and Chris Knott didnt like my age :(
Roll on next year when Ill be 25, Im keeping my fingers crossed that will bring the price down a bit.

I hope so, I thought £600 was good but not sure if my job makes it better or worse.

34, 0 points, Standard S1 *coughs*, driveway.
2 or 3 no fault accidents in the last 3 years costing around £4k each. Low annual mileage (tho that maybe goes against us these days??)

Between £350 and £400 each year for the last 4 years with Adrian Flux, their renewals are a complete joke £600/700 but I just find some silly quote online and they generally just about match it.

Adrian Flux get fairly poor reviews but so do most insurers when you have to claim. In an accident I had the woman’s husband (who wasn't in the car when she hit me) called me up, asked me what happened (I stupidly told him), then he said it was all my fault (he used the - going too fast card, which I wasn't, it was on a corner and I was doing the speed limit :)) and they were going to contest it.
So I told AF about the strange call and they were really nice about it and promptly convinced the 3rd parties insurers it was their clients fault :thumbsup
