Knockhill - Hot Marques - Fri 12 Sept
Re: Knockhill - Hot Marques - Fri 12 Sept
decent turnout tonight, with brian, kevin, dirka dirka, mass (of course) and myself out circulating. There were a few straight line hero's that i had trouble passing. It only ever seems to be a problem at knockhill, i never experience it at any other circuits. Maybe its the drivers? Or maybe the track layout accentuates the problem, i dont know.
I went out with Dirka for a few laps (sorry, i am terrible with names) as it was his first trackday and he admitted he was a bit lost. He seemed to be getting the hang of it by the end of the night though, and a few more sessions and he'll be up lapping at full speed.
I think my time at kh is over though. A combination of the track being quite slow compared to down south, and drivers not moving over mean you never get in a rhythm. It just seemed like such a struggle to get any enjoyment out of it, and i only did 50 miles on track in 2 hours. Maybe i'm just getting old.

I've enjoyed the day. A bonus was, I was given the "Driver of the day" award
I think the first one was given to Andy. May be we could start collecting them between us SEers
I could see you were frustrated behind some slow cars which won't move
Bad manners.

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Neil, would be a pity, t'was kinda looking forward to seeing how we compared on track in your SlowR format, thought it might have been reasonably close.
I guess we will just have to settle for the fact that I would have been quicker and no Mckeaning it, ape like abilities would have been a match for my talents. Such is life.

seriously tho, im glad i popped my track cherry, the people who gave me good advice, thanks, you know who you are.i WILL be doing it again.
one thing ive always been taught in my line of work is...slow is smooth, smooth is fast. I know now that it can be attached to driving a lotus around track

I think as you were getting into trackdays at kh, i was off doing the euro trips, and as you started ruling the roost at kh, i was off racing. I have been in your car at kh though. Remember, yours was the fastest S2 exige

Its a great car, alot better than my old S1 in many ways, but it just doesn't excite me in the way that the old shed used to. It rewards a subtle gentle approach, and i am a ham fisted heavy footed ape.

i was going to keep quiet about that. Instructor/pupil confidentiality and all that. Well, at least until the pictures come out to prove it. Worryingly, every time you spun, i was only just a bit behind you on the track

Re: Knockhill - Hot Marques - Fri 12 Sept
No photos No proof eh !!!!!
now i think about it, i think the lack of badge on the car made the front too light

Spining 3 times on the first day is a sign of effort. Just don't get used to doing it.
