Tyre recommendation
Tyre recommendation
Hi.
I currently have Yoko AO48s on my Exige, but seeing as it is coming to winter up in Aberdeen, I thought it might be wise to change to something with a little more grip in the wet for the coming months.
I have been pointed towards either the Yoko AO39 or the Toyo T1R.
Does anyone have any recomendation between the two (or other) and also, where the best place is to buy and get them fitted in Aberdeen?
Thanks

Re: Tyre recommendation
You can get T1R's at Checkpoint.
They have Lotus experience.
If you speak to Alan (owner) mention my name - probably won't get you a discount though...
Toyo's or 39's won't be a patch on 48's in terms of outright grip when it's only 'wet'...will be more progressive at the lower limits though and less prone to aquaplaning when water is deeper.

Re: Tyre recommendation
888's do actualy grip quie well when you get some heat into them...
T1r's are good also... I have tried a few tires now and T1r's get my vote for winter use.
There are "proper" winter tires from toyo called "snowproxes" that worked very well on the S6 and gave significant wet weather/winter grip. Not sure how they would be on an S2 though.
I will be putting snowproxes on the S4 in a few weeks if the weather turns..

Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....
Re: Tyre recommendation
Do the ad07 yokos come in the correct size ?
Re: Tyre recommendation
Never seen them in S2 exige size!
Walshy says that R888's work better in the wet and at lower temps than the yoko's....just there is more (ultimate) grip from the yokos!
I don't notice the difference between the two and the 888's are cheaper!

Thanks for the advice Alicrozier, Victor and Meatball. And thanks for putting on the right forum Shug.
I went to checkpoint earlier to ask for a quote and got a good feeling about them. Thanks for the confirmation.
Looks like the T1Rs...it's too nice out there today though!
