Was down in the passanger footwell trying to retreive some change last night (tight git that I am) and had the mat up. I noticed quite a few 50p sized raised parts under the rubber floor covering. I was a bit worried, then hauled out the pax footrest and there was nowt there... Could this just be dirt thats got under the rubber cover, or should I get my behind in gear before my anti-corrosion warranty runs out?

I'm disappointed in you Shug, not even an attempt to say the raised bits could've been 50p's?

(the rubber mats are taped down on 4 sides. The only thing getting under them is corrosion - in your case it'll probably be a simple treatment & not new floors)

How old is the car? I found my floor corrosion 1 month outside the anti-corrosion warranty....
Pull up the mats ASAP and dry it out, get to MMC there is a free fix depending on the extent of the damage. May be free mats, may be a new bonded in floor. I have a stylish bare metal floor under my carpets.....
The worst cases actually holed the floor but mine was just a bit of blue/white powder and a bit of light pitting.
The PVC mats reacted with the Ali.

IIRC it wasn't that the PVC reacted it was the stuff they were stuck down with and combined with the PVC being non-breathable, any moisture that got in stayed there making the corrosion worse.
