AFAIK - One driver throughout; two navigators is okay (in fact you can have as many as your car can legally sit;- but it's usually bad enough having to deal with one woman let loose with a map;- can you imagine having to deal with the arugments with more![]()

Well, I have to admit I didn't really enjoy it at the start tonight. We found that plotting 34 points using 8 figure grid refs was a bit boring after a while and the first few clues we went to were a bit annoying. However, we soon got into the swing of it and ended up enjoying ourselves . . . especially when we found that we'd beaten Dom and Morvy! hehe
I thought we had no chance against an experienced scatter rally man like Dom, and because we only got 7 clues in the end. However, it turns out 7 accurate answers are better than 13 inaccurate answers!
Thanks to all those at GUMSC for the organisation. And a massive thanks to Morvern for letting Heather and I use the Mini.
It was a fun mini adventure!
And I didn't even do a single handbrake turn
We were joint 3rd. I'll let Dom tell you what place he came in . . .

The rally was fun last night, some of the clues were very hard to find and was getting a bit fed up after about 40mins and not finding any, but it got better. Thought we had no chance against all the experienced scatter rally people so was amazed to find out we came 3rd AND beat Dom and Morvy hehe
Thanks to all the guys form GUMSC for organising it, and I’m so glad we had the mini and not a lotus for all the turning in the road we had to do! Thanks Morvy.
Just hope my neck gets better soon after falling in a ditch looking for clues!

Re: GUMSC Scatter Rally Tues 4th Nov 6:30pm
Yup, we got well and truly beat!
We plotted reasonably acurately at the start, and planned our strategy. Our plan was to go for the high points locations, that were further away, and make our way back in, picking up other lower point locations nearer the finish venue. We did get to a lot of locations, and high points locations at that. We managed something like 13 locations, which was pretty good going.
We arrived at the finish. I was on the side of the car nearest the check in, so jumped out, as the car screeched to a halt on the handbrake
,.. and sprinted in, to make the check in with 2 seconds to spare!!
Then the wait. We were feeling quietly confident. Speaking to the other competitors, it appeared that we had managed to get to a reasonable number of locations.;- it was now down to how well we had answered the questions. That was our downfall, we had made a few too many errors. With negative marks for wrong answers, our score took a hamering!
After a quick alteration on an error in the marking, I think we finished about 5th or 6th. (out of 7 or 8
)
The main thing, was that we had loads of fun along the way. Some clues were a bit cryptic, and difficult to find, but that's what we get for going for the high point locations. Maybe a re-think on strategy for future events.
A big thanks to Morvern for navigating, and putting up with my driving, and putting up with me going past a few too many locations. Hope you are feeling better today!
Now to point a hose at the golf:- it is a 'little' dirty.

Well that was a fun evening, even if dom did do his best to make me sick with his driving. We thought we had done pretty well and were confident with the amswers for all bar one of the clues but apparantly we just got a few too many high pointers wrong
. Was good fun anyway and think Ellie the elephant enjoyed his car ride. Big thanks to all the guys for organising it and to dom for having me as his navigator.
