Elise insured: MWA.

Post by renmure » Tue Aug 26, 2008 4:55 pm

I renewed the insurance on the elise today. Renewal quote from A-Plan was ok but I got fed up of them always giving me a price then lowering it when I said I was going to shop around. Anyhow, the broker was Michael Ward Associates: http://www.michaelwardassociates.com/ who also insure my F355. The guy to phone and speak to is Chris.

It is covered for an assured agreed value of £20k and 5000miles/year for me and Wendy ( fat chance of that since its done less than that in 3 years  )

It is on a "Future Classic" policy, so no need for any existing NCD, and the premium was £285.

They do Trackday Cover on a "when you want it" basis which costs 10% of the annual premium per trackday (£28 in my case) with a policy excess of 10% of the insured value (£2k in my case)

Pretty good I thought :thumbsup

What were A plan quoting for your renewal Jim ? I must admit I didn't like their attitude much when I phoned for a quote last year. My renewal will be due in a couple of months so I'll keep a note of Michael Ward.......TD cover deal sounds good.

Hi Neil. A-Plan quoted something around £350 then phoned to see if I was going ahead with it. I said I would phone around to see how competitive they were and the guy then said they could do it for about £310. They did something similar with both the Ferrari and the Merc in the last couple of months and I just got fed up playing the game. Agreed value insurance suits me quite well at the mo anyhow since in the event of a write-off claim I reckon there could be a few low-ball payout offers from insurance companies. The TD cover was a bit of a bonus :)

MWA? I thought this was a post about DDtB's number plate ;)

I'm shopping around for renewals at the moment too, so will check MWA out. Thanks Jim :thumbsup Best quote so far is my renewal from Chris Knott (about half of most other quotes! ) so will be interesting to see if MWA can beat it.
