Another HGF...

Post by RDH » Fri Nov 14, 2008 9:57 am

After an interesting drive home from work the other night - my car has been picked up by an AA flatbead. There was enough Mayo in the filler cap and dipstick to put Hellmans out of business.

So place your bets.... how long will it take to repair? or should that be how long should it take to repair?

Answers on a postcard to ........me!

I used to do them in two days normally. A week is a reasonable amount of time to wait I would say.

Yep - AA parts and labour to the rescue...
My dad's mate's an ex rover dealer,so it's going there for a rest.

They reckon it'll be back on the road by next Friday/Saturday.

Well, maybe, maybe not - if that 25,000 miles ends up costing you in terms of head or engine damage, it may not be a good trade off ... still fingers crossed all will be well and you'll be back on the road again. I heard last night that kiwirog is turning heads around quite quickly at the moment - might be worth getting the bigger inlet valves & head port done at the same time - you know it makes sense :-)

Cheers,
Robin

Yeah, but it's been "sniffer" tested several times in the last couple of years. Fingers crossed...
How much for a Kiwirog head? ( I can't believe I'm even asking this!)

This is an excellent opportunity to rescue something from the pain, Rob, get onto Kiwirog and give your K-series the midlife crisis it fully deserves :-)

Really, an Elise isn't an Elise without a better head and all your gubbins will be dismantled in any case, how can you refuse. Or did you tell the missus...
