Duck, joke overhead.

I am pretty sure that this guy will have been getting bids from the trade of around the £13k mark - looks clean enough to me if a little high on the miles http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/798734.htm

With Exige S at a dealers at under £23k ( http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/796580.htm ) its not surprising the NA is getting a hammering - numbers built will not have helped residuals as well as the 190 not being as nice a drive as the S.

We're talking £13k Exiges, not £10k ones.

Sorry not meaning to start a big debate here... Just honestly trully believe that you will not in a million years be able to find one for sale, privately, at 13k.... As per JJ's example - £16k (and that will go quickly IMHO) is the lowest you are going to get... right now.... I think. 51k miles - 2004 reg. Seems right to me.

But yeah back on topic - Dean - Exige/111r no matter what the price - you'll have a blast :thumbsup

As I sit here having my morning coffee reading that the Chancellor is going to cut VAT tomorrow by 2.5%.....and in an effort to continue the thread hijack .....sorry Admin
:D

I offer the following observationsto X7 LDA below:-

Whilst the prices I quoted for S2 Exiges were lifted from recent BCA sales, These were "Hammer Prices" of 2004/2005 vehicles. In addition the sales were not "closed" and open to members of the public such as yourself.
I fully recognise the fact that most members of the public will continue to shy away from auctions because of the myths perpetuated (mainly by motor traders) that auctions are not a safe place to spend your pounds.
Yesterday's Scotman Headlines (The Top Gear - Range Rovers Stockpiled on a Oxfordshire Airfield) makes chilling reading with the Pendragon Group shedding 2500 jobs /discounting Rangies by £15k......and still heading for a £30m loss.
One Motor Trade Contact of my acquaintance , stated "Even the Liars are quiet"

In summary

The days of the Motor Dealers defending their £4k margin on premium second hand stock have disappeared for the moment and the independant traders are not buying the non franchise/other stock. This is causing the standard Dealership business model to fail with cash flow grinding to a halt.
No Cash Flow is obviously not sustainable for any business so Joe Public can pick up a bargain at the local dealership at Trade Prices.

So the private seller (with the Rimming Fetish :damnfunny )....who wants to sell his 2005 Black Lotus Exige (Reg X7 L*A)with nominal mileage.... is hardly likely to draw anything more than a trade bid of around (£14,475)

I get offered cars every week........usually the smokers that they cannot shift.......and last week saw me being offered a 2004 Range Rover Vogue with tiny mileage and all the toys . The vehicle is currently with a liquidator and my speculative/cheeky £12k bid is the higgest so far.

I did not really want the vehicle so looks like Gail and the Girls are getting an early Christmas Present for pulling the Horsebox
:cheers
Quintin Boag

PS
My offer of posting details (and potentially bidding if you are shy!) for any Exiges that appear on BCA still stands

Interesting....

But I don't want to sell :D And if I did I wouldn't go through auction and I wouldn't be in any hurry for a quick sale - so all good 8)

(I have enquired about selling recently though - and the p/x offer on my car was 19.5k......................... So 5k more than you suspect..)

TVR Sagaris... High(ish) mileage.. I had negotiated a good price on it and probably could have got him down further but he did point out the p/x he was giving me... But by the time I called the dealer back it was gone :( Was only on PH for two days!

My car still has over a years warranty on it (2yr extended when I bought it) and I've spent about 3k on it since march.... Performance pack 2005 Exige - New brakes, wheels refurd, general service, tax, mot, exhaust, HID's, paintwork looked after by Al, just spent a grand re-trimming the interior and covering almost everything in black leather bought for 25k - so car was ready to go and I thought 19.5k was fair conditions considered (although disappointed at the same time)... Even if he sold it for 21/22k its still easy profit.

Also had good advice from a friend that runs Azur International. And I trust he knows his stuff..

You've got to remember that I walked into MMC in March and Graham offered me 9k trade in for my 03 Quartz Elise with 47,000 miles on the clock.. And as part of the deal he wanted me to spend £500 getting the brakes done all round.........! I spoke to 2 very well informed Lotus members who thought that was a great trade in price (considering it was touching HGF teritority and one of the dampers were leaking and I was too impatient to go down private sale route) - yet two days later I got the same car traded in for the same model Exige at a different dealer - for £13.5k... :!:

I'm not trying to kid myself here I know our cars are dropping in value very quickly - including mine. But I deal with exiting and funding businesses everyday and as soon as one business sells out short it makes my job 100 times harder to hit value on every other business in its market. And I think the same applies to cars. People see one person having a fire sale, obviously in desperation to just sell the thing, and it has a chain re-action to every other car on the market. :(

Now I have a new job I can afford the next step and probably will sell the Exige one day - but I have a very small list of cars that I'd do it for (996 Turbo, Sagaris, F348, Gransport, V8 Vantage) - otherwise it'll sit where it is and keep getting pampered :D

I think things will pick up this year and prices will level off in the next 5/6 months.

If you dont mind me asking Deany (pm if you`d prefer) what did you offer on that ExigeS - I phoned them on Saturday as another SE`er who shall remain nameless fancies it (not me before anyone asks) and they went to £21.5k.
