Pure-Lotus?

Post by Ciprian » Fri Dec 12, 2008 7:12 pm

Anybody bought a car from them? Looking for a px for my actual car (Celica TSport) with a Elise S + difference. Based in West Yorkshire so it's a bit of a drive but can't find anything interesting in Scotland.

Is the engine on the 04 plate Elise S a Toyota or a Rover engine?

If it's a 2004 Elise, it'll be a K Series Rover one...

04 Elise will be a K, I think. 'Yotas not introduced on S until late '06/early '07 IIRC. Car will be marked as a '111S', whereas 'Yotas are just 'S'.

111Rs were 'Yota VVTL-i - the "screamer"

/apostrophe key now used up
Emira - Volvo spec
A1 Black Edition - Ilford HP5 spec

The K/Rover S was badged as the 111S only with the 156bhp VVC engine (and had luxuries), the S model rover car has less spec and the 120bhp engine.

Is this the purple one??

I've heard a few horror stories about them, sorry :( Last one was someone who went to buy an S1 from them and they had used pictures of a completely different car in the advert (one in the pictures was a lot newer and nicer).

And If I'm right there was a post here a while ago about them advertising an S1 Elise that was blue, yet the interior pictures were of a silver car.... :?:

I should add that I had also heard a few horror stories about the garage that I bought my car from and they were flawless with me!!!

Guess you very rarely hear the good things about car garages.. People only usually speak up when something goes wrong so don't let above comments put you off.

The S k-series is actually the high spec - leccy windows central locking /'luxury trim' but with the 120hp engine- I had a 2003 S (now in Gizmo's capable hands) IIRC the S model was only available for about a year and was dropped when the 111R ( now R) came on the scene with Yota power THEN they brought out the low spec / power Yota engined car and called it the S.

Hope that makes sense? Keith

Jay of Pure Lotus is pretty well known to NYLOC (North Yorkshire Lotus Owners Club). Might be able to get one of our members to take a look at the car if you, there are one or two who live fairly close.

You can post a message in the public area of the forum http://www.nyloc.org

Great response guys! Thanks for everything, all clear now. I'll try to get somebody from the NYLOC forum to step by and take a look at the car. Either the purple or the blue one, it will have to be after the new year when i go down cos I'm on holiday for 2 weeks.

Generally, not good cars, but this one may be ok, you never know.

Definitely get someone in the know to look over it for you.

Think he means the place, not the actual 'S's, or else I'll have him :D

I got one too...as said above it's the standard 120 K-series, with some bits of extra tat thrown at it. If you get it Gizmo or I will show you the secret purple 'S' handshake :thumbsup

Edit: there's a spec fot it here: http://www.lotus-elise.be/

Lotus Wagon R
Lotus Focus
