Removing valve guides

Post by Rich H » Tue May 30, 2006 7:01 pm

Another quick question:

How hard do I need to hit the valve guides to remove them? I have given one of them a tap, a clonk and a wallop but none of my calibrated impacts have budged it one bit. My hammer is a puny 6oz thing, should I get a 10lb sledge?

Would that freeze spray stuff work? Comments please....

Rich - I think they are an interference fit so would take some serious amounts of presure to remove them. Do they not need to be reamed out?

Cheers

Nice one! Knew someone would know. Now where can I find an oven...

(Got a microwave... hmm... BOOM!)

Sanjoy: Nothing to worry about the clam and the undertray should catch all the bits.....
