Another boring newbie post!...
Re: Another boring newbie post!...
Thanks Campbell, you have a long memory.
Stelvio 2001. Doubt if we will ever forget that one. Ricky had just finished upgrading N1, but there was a problem with the map that reared its ugly head. I think I was part way through trying another map when the battery ran out. I presume the problem must have been sorted, as she kept going.
Feeling a lot more optimistic now, big improvement in the past few days and felt fine on Sundays run. Mind you I was behind Scotty in the afternoon so was able to get a rest......

Great to hear you have been out and about. Hope the car has been washed of all the salt promptly though...

Incidentally, mine got a wash this week, only because it had been residing on my parents drive and when my dad got out, having shuffled cars about, he thought he'd scuffed the sill through to the gelcoat - he saw a big white streak. On checking closer, he noticed the 3ft Yokohama sticker (there since the Classics thing at KH last year) that he'd never seen before, as it'd been covered up in half an inch of road muck, making it look as grey as the rest of the car

I can hardly talk. Mine is only clean because a) it's barely been out in a month and b) it's in the garage! And as for our poor Golf. Once upon a time it was gloss black. Now it is generally matt light brown and occasionally greyer at the back end courtesy of free added salt. And thanks to this, the first time it got a wash in ages a couple of months back, it started to inherit swirl marks thanks to the amount of crud which held on in the sponge. I know I should be more careful. Sponge on once, rinse sponge twice I guess! Two bucket method perhaps as well. Time to get the good polish out. Some day...
Anyway sorry for thread drift Donna!

I never knew the conversion was so expensivetut wrote:A new Link-Up Honda conversion with a used K20 is £10K total, or £13k S/C. Add £3K with a new engine.

Makes this look like a good buy??

Re: Another boring newbie post!...
Reason it's so cheap is it's a Blink conversion - they stopped doing them some time ago, so a lot of the development that has happened with the Link-Up and Sinclaire's kits never happened with these. Doesn't mean they are bad - believe both of tut's are Blink, but does explain why he has to price it like that.
Having said that, I've seen Link-Up converted ones going for £15K odd. You never get money back on mods - no matter what they are

Re: Another boring newbie post!...
Take your time, the right one will become available, don't rush in and buy crap. As I said colour should be way down on the priorities, I would be looking for the best value for money will all the things I meantioned that will save you money in the long run. Good tyres, good tread, good brake pad with life on them, good discs with life, changed suspension from standard konis etc etc
Good luck with the search!
