Paid Up Member

Post by Doc883 » Wed Jan 21, 2009 11:24 pm

Hi, joined this Forum 2 weeks ago after paying a deposit for an Elise with Murray Motors. I got in touch with CCI for an insurance quote and they said I would qualify for a discount if I was a paying member of the Scottish Forum. Not sure if it's this one or if there is another Forum/website I need to sign up and pay an annual subscription for??

You cannot be a paid up member of SE, though you can be a member (in fact, you are a member).

That doesn't mean you cannot receive your discount from CCI though - just tell them you're a member and move on :-)

Does anyone remember a CCI/SE discount scheme being set up?

Cheers,

Last time I spoke to CCI you had to be a member of a proper club, ie SIDC or LoT or Sel*oc to qualify for trackday cover, you also received a discount for doing driver training. Walshy day or Lotus' own days were recognised.

I don't think SE counts although I could be wrong.

Richard Egger is the same you have to be a paid up member on a site like SELOC although you don't need to wait until your membership pack arrives if you've paid your £12 and joined up it shows on your profile ~ guess they take it as an acknowlegment that your serious about your car and more likely to look after it, and it save's you money on your insurance tooas does adding your wife or female partner ~even if they don't intend to/never drive it

if your planning on doing trackdays or not then join Lotus on track, you will get a discount from CCI then. It will only cost you £30 for life :thumbsup

I am with Richard Egger and I got frese track day cover by sending then a print of the front LOT web page with me signed in.

You then have track day cover for any officially recognised event, ie run by the track them self or by SIDC, LOT etc, but it only applies to the UK.

I'm in my 2nd year with CCI and was asked this too in year one. Explained I was a member of SE but it was a forum and there was no subscription.
They just asked me to send them something indicating my membership and said that was fine. Can't remember what it was I sent them, some screen prints of my profile or something, but they were happy with them and issued the docs on the back ot it.

Knockhill 'Hyperformance' days - i.e. 2 hours/25 laps with instructor - are recognised too.

Surely by the time you'd explained they could have just said 'no problem sir, here's your discount'! Make life simple for everyone concerned then, instead of sending screen dumps and what-not.

I used to received a club discount for being member of a Mini forum (back in my Mini days obviously...)

It wasn't a pay for forum, but was recognised as a club. All they wanted as proof was my membership number. After some discussion they were happy to accept forum registration number.

CCI told me that SE forum membership was not sufficient and I had to be a paid up member of a club so I eventually had to pay £12 for a SELOC membership to score the discount.

At least they seem to be consistently inconsistent

Hi

I renewed my insurance with Richard Eggar, who I think used to be part of CCI, and a screenshot of me signed into this forum was enough to qualify for the club discount.

Still wasn't cheap though, I don't think they liked my weegie postcode :)

Cheers
