General Description.
Elan +2 converted to Zetec E 1800cc with MegaSquirt programable electronic ignition and fuel injection.
Silver over Blue paintwork has a number of blemished and chips but is generaly very presentable.
Underlying body is generaly good but has a few cracks etc. as you would expect from a car of this age.
Interior is mainly Elan with new headlining, new carpets, new dashboard and front and middle
wireing looms. Additional wiring for the injection is in a seperate loom.
Conversion has been done with the aim of changing as little as possible and using as many off the shelf parts.
Mechnics.
Spyder Chassis, Zetec E Fiesta RS1800 engine, Spyder exhaust maifold, Spyder exhaust,Ford injectors, fuel rail and
peressure regulator. Modified inlet manifold with cast plenum and RS 1800 Throttlebody. Fabricated engine mounts that
mate to the standard Elan rubber mounts. Front cross member has had a box let into it to accomodate the Zetec front pulley
as the engine is longer than the Lotus one. Retroford flywheel and Clutch conversion, Elan Gearbox, prop and diff.
Tony Topmson solid drive shafts, Elan rear uprights and brakes(new disks), Spyder lower rear wishbones, Aeroquipe Brake hoses.
Spyder front wishbones top and bottom, Elan +2 hubs and brakes(new disks), Aeroquipe Brake hoses. K&N Type air filter mounted in nose
feeds throttle body by 70mm plastic corrigated pipe. Elan radiator and electric fan with temp sensor mounted in Retro Ford
water rail. Fuel tank modified to add 2 fuel takeoffs, Fuel pre filter and Jaguar 7 bar fuel pump. New fuel injection
spec fuel lines. Spare fuel tank.
Interior.
New head lining, professionaly filtted, new dash, new wireing loom, new leather hiback front seats - after market,
standard Elan rear seats, crack in rear seat back just where it curves down to the parcel shelf. New carpetrs and sound
deadening. New door cards. Crack in Dash cover where it meets front screen, Elan 14" Steering wheel.
Glove box needs handel and lock drilled and fitted. Ameter and Rev counter not wired in, electricaly operated squirties
running from Elan wiper switch. New speakers in parcel shelf wired to behind dash, no CD/Radio.
Body
New front and rear screen seals, star crack in bonnet, crack in boot through the LOTUS letters, blistering round DS rear
light cluster. Somone has added badges and rear side indicators to each rear wing. Twin jet washers rather than the singles.
Rear bumper new 3 years ago, front bumper OK but not perfect.
Chips on doors where they have rubbed on walls when being opened, Cracks and blisters on light pods, Cibie head lights,
new front loom, new back loom (not fitted). Scratches on PS front wing, scratch by windscreen PS
Paint flaking round roof to body joint PS
New Door hinges and top hats both sides, new DS winder mechanism. Period mirrors on both doors.
Hole from previous mirror mounting. Scratch near front badge, Lacker peeled PS front wing.
Wheels and Tyres.
Standard Elan +2 Wheels, powder coated slight rust marks in the grove. 4 New Avon CR322 165/R13 tyres.
Clutch needs bled but going quite niceley.
Summary
Car needs finishing off and tidying, things like remaining carpets allong sills, tidying wireing loom, makeing mounting
for air filter, wireing up windows, Re bleeding and adjusting travel stop on Clutch, fine tune Fuel Injection,
that sort of thing...
I am willing to swap back in original Elan seats or include for a small fee if you would prefer.
Too many projects and not enough time.
I can supply Xflow engine either L block or 711 in various states if you prefer to put it back to being more original.
No TwinCam head though.
Will sell the car using the Ebay "Sell It Now" facility if somone wants to negotiate a price before the end of auction.
