A-Plan

Post by craigs135s » Thu Feb 26, 2009 7:38 pm

:thumbsup to A-Plan got my renewal through and it was £600 ish :( Quick call to them to say i had a quote of £450 :P and they matched it  . From what i gather the companys that they deal with want to keep as many people as poss through renewal so if you get it through and its not great give them a bell.

Cheers

I have given up with A-Plan. They were really great at first and really helpful on the phone, so much that at one point I think we had 5 or 6 cars with them. But then every renewal time the quote would go higher, sometimes about £150 higher, and I would have to phone around places and get cheaper quotes which A-Plan would then match. I would rather they just said, ok.. you are a good customer and this is as low as we can make it. It would certainly be less frustrating. Ho hum

Jim

Do you have an all in or family policy for you cars? I am just taking one out with Richard Egger through their parent company Chaucer for our five cars and four drivers.

Means that apart from the kids with the Elises, everybody can drive everything.

Not being funny or anything, but, A-Plan are a broker who are meant to work on your behalf.... why the hell do the send out a renewal at £600 from your current insurer if they are able to quickly beat £450? I wouldn't give them a thumbsup... I'd give them a kick up the rear.
They did the same with me, beating a quote I got elsewhere by only a few £, so I went with the 'elsewhere' out of principle.
I have no signature.

SAGA were the same with Verian's Audi TT. Been with them from the start but last year they suddenly increased it to a silly amount. Called Tesco who quoted £150 less, back to SAGA who then said they would match it.

Told them what I thought of their customer loyalty and pathetic way of doing business, but could not be bothered changing, so stayed with them.

I just have individual policies tut. I have looked at group cover with Chaucer, Admiral, Michael Ward and others but never end up cheaper than doing it individually. For me, the group cover seems to benefit me with the Merc, Mini and 4x4s but some others are higher, eg it is time to insure the Exige and with Admiral Multicar it was £253 which was pretty good, but as a stand-alone individual policy, again with Admiral.... it's £217. They also wanted a fair bit for the Ferrari but I get it on a Classic Agreed Value policy for about £300. :? Not too sure if I want to add all 8 or 9 up anyhow

The difference with us Jim was the 18 and 20 year old kids, and my 11 points, which they ignored.

The total was well below the individual policies, and covered cross driving of the cars.

I couldn't agree more. I always go out of my way to give the business to the place who offered the lower price in the first place, not the place who were trying to rip you off and charge as much as they thought they could get away with.
