Yes, the emerald uses a switched earth per injector or per bank of injectors. The injectors are fed a common live (brown & pink wire IIRC) from the main relay.

Although I haven't posted up much this time home I have been busy sorting out a bunch of niggles a job like this seems to constantly throw up !!!. 90% of the wiring is done, a major job in itself as it turned out. Waiting on a couple of fittings for the fuel line which should be here tomorrow. Also waiting for a replacement oil pressure gauge sensor, if you ever fit the filter housing with twin ports be careful when re-installing the alternator as there isn't enough room to get either a pressure switch or sender in the top port as I discovered  to the cost of the pressure sensor. Finally got a M18 nut to fit the air temp sensor and some LED's for the shift lights although not to sure where I'm going to site them yet, did get all the new switch's in though.

Image

Switches and gauges all working

Image

Engine wiring in, just need to tidy up some loose ends.

Safe the best till last, finally got the engine turned over and the oil system primed, although without a pressure sender can't tell how much pressure I was getting. Removed the pressure switch till oil got round to it's port and there was good flow so looking good. Noticed a distinct change in the engine once oil was pumped through the oil ways. Getting good flow through the cam bearings as well.
Once I get the new sensor and sort out what I am doing with the throttle cable should get it started. And ideas for how to secure the cable to the jenvey linkage would be appreciated as I am trying to use the original cable. Probably end up drilling a bolt and cutting off the blob on the end of the cable but open to suggestions.

All for now, but at last the end is in site...........

Mike, are you using Auto-Teknix airbox or something else?

The Auto-Teknix airbox comes with all the stuff you need to make the linkage work with standard S1 cable. If you're not using it, you might still drop them a line (http://www.auto-teknix.co.uk) and see if they can sell you the linkage bits and bobs?

Cheers,
Robin

Right last couple of gratuitous engine pictures. First one with all the fuel lines fitted and engine full of water. Spent all evening hunting down water leaks, worst one was from the new water rail to thermostat 'O' ring. No mater what I did it would not seal, very frustrating, then it sealed itself which is even more worrying. Anyway onwards and upwards, will deal with it later if it keeps giving me grief.

And with the air box on, backplate was hitting the above mentioned water rail, brute force and ignorance sort that problem out. Waiting for a new air temp sender, after finally getting a nut to fit it I went and dropped the bloody thing and smashed the tip of the end  . So once that arrives I suppose all that's left is to see if it will run.............................

On an unrelated note, these arrived today.............

Rears are 8 x 16 ET10, but the fronts are 1/2" wider at 6.5 x 15 ET10. Reason for this is to take a 195 section front as on the 5.5's (standard) the tyre is a touch to wide for the wheel, this should sort that out> As a bonus they are lighter as well :thumbsup .

Now that I have the oil pressure gauge wired up thought I would check my oil pressure while turning over the engine, 65psi (4.4bar) on the starter. At least the oil pump is working :thumbsup

Very tidy. Often thought about those myself. Albeit in a lighter shade. One day perhaps...

Vic,
I only got them now cause someone was selling a brand new boxed set with wheel nuts for £75 less than Elise parts otherwise I would have waited.

I think I will just put up with running std width wheels and 195's on the front. I'm only just playing at this sprinting lark this year anyway..

Next year may be different.
