alarm problem

Post by ninja » Thu Sep 08, 2005 10:27 am

the problem is i'm thick!!

i know that when i park the car, turn the engine off and then press the button on the key the alarm activates cos it beeps 4 times. i then close the door and wander off happy that my car is going to go mental if someone touches it.

but right now i'm on a parking meter and from what i can tell when i turn the alarm off to put the sticker on the window and then press the button on teh key again this just immobilises the car as it doesn't beep!

how do i turn the alarm on without starting the car up and then switching it off and then pressing the button on the key?!

i can't keep turning the car over for 5 seconds and then switching off just to set the alarm......

help

I think the alarm only beeps like that if there if it can't set. i.e having the door open.

when arming the alarm pressing the button once will cause the hazards to flash twice.

disarming the alarm with have the hazards flash once for a slightly longer duration.

Audible alarm arming won't pass the thatcham cat 1 standards, they have to arm silently you see.

After disarming the alarm there is a set amount of time until the immobiliser reactivates, after this you must click the button once more which will deactivate the immobilser after this one more press to alarm the car.

This is all assuming you have the metasystems alarm and not the cobra, phew.
