Thanks folks.

I was booked on SIDC but cancelled it as I wasn't sure that I would have a car in time. I probably could get on, but have decided to get one or two road miles under my belt before heading on track. I'll probably do one or two evening sessions in the next few weeks. Also I am a big wuss :D

I can't believe how civilised it all is compared to the S1. The toyota does give the impression of sluggishness compared to the 135 K series, however when I look at the speedo I realise that I am going faster than I think. I could see the 2nd cam becoming quite addictive, but could get you into lots of trouble on the public highways  . The ride is firm, but quite different from the elise. The steering in the exige has much more weight and it does seem to grab tramlines and bumps in the roads much more readily than my elise. Not sure if this down to firmer suspension, wider tyres, tyre pressures etc,. I may get the geometry checked just to see. Regardless I practically leaped out of bed this morning knowing that I had the opportunity to take it to work. It was a long day at work :)

I used to think my civic was orange but it is definitely ginger compared to chrome orange. Never been one for giving cars names, but I do feel like naming these two Ginger and Roger for some strange reason  but probably wont.

Scott, hopefully get the exhaust on on Sunday :thumbsup

I'll be at KH on Saturday anyway, probably with camera in hand and may pop across to see the evora in the wild afterwards.

Cheers

Stewart

P.S.
I love central locking :D

Sounds about right, if it starts squirming around over white lines when changing lanes on the motorway then it's time to get it checked.

Squirming sounds just about right. Tonight I went over some kind of graduation on the surface and first the front end seemed to move sideways and then the rear. This was at very low speed on the straight in the dry. It wasn't an understeer oversteer moment by a very long shot indeed, just the car following whatever was happening to the surface - just ... well ... squirming. :?

Interesting . . . mine kinda does the same thing and I always put it down to the wider tyres than the Elise, as well as suspension/etc. Can't really afford a geo right now but will maybe get one done when it's in for its next service.

Let me know if a geo improves this for you Stewart :thumbsup

That's a good discription of how Dezzy's car feels to drive compared to my Elise.

Yeah, that would be me. If it was about 6 I would be on my way home from Perth. If it was later, I was taking the long way home from my brother's - he only lives on the other side of the town :D I take it you weren't in the elise or cat?

Congrats on the car 8)

All Exiges squirm or tramline to an extent, and I found it very noticeable coming from an Elise. It is a characteristic caused by the very stiff sidewalls of the A048 tyres. I quite like it now - it makes the front of the car feel alive and almost feels like you are touching the road surface through the wheel.

Incidentally I have just bought an E91 beemer whic also suffers from squirm. Again, a well known characteristic of the wide and very stiff Bridgestone runflat tyres, although definitely not a desirable feature in an everyday car. Looking forward to the tyres wearing out so I can ditch the bloody runflats and fit sensible rubber. Don't get me started on the complete idiocy of runflats

I almost bought an Orange one but in the end went for the white. Congrats, looking good. 8) With regards to the steering, mines is the same. Grabs most lines on the road. If i've been for a long drive i always have sore arms by the time i get home from having firmly gripped the steering wheel for every single mile! Sometimes it's a pleasure to get back in the Golf, alot less work to drive! Maybe get myself down the gym and work on those arms!!

Nah - flow with it. You can let it jink around a little, it's just a matter of filtering out what's an actual pull and what's just shouty feedback. Elaine's 111R does it to an extent (not as bad as an Exige) and mine is set up to do it. 'Twas Lawrence who told me to relax with it and think of the car finding it's own route - you're just using the wheel to make the big decisions. 8)

One should not grip the steering too firmly as this will hinder one's response when a true driver input is required. Unless one gets used to this way of driving, one can never feel 100% comfortable in an Exige.

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.
