The bus may be dead and buried before this trip ...
No way! Whassup?
Ford were doing crackpot deals on Galaxies recently. I nearly bought one. Then saw the error of my ways..."that route leads to the Dark Side, young Skywalker" etc. I have instead sold my soul to the Skoda Rebellion...
Yes, it has developed a significant number of faults since xmas the sum of which would cost a lot to repair - in itself no problem, but if you look at the cost of ownership of a Galaxy over the next 3 years, I think it'll be cheaper to replace the whole thing. Also it's starting to rust (13 years old now) and other people I know who've had them have spent loads patching them up to pass MOT only to fail again next year and finally be scrapped. So all in, I think it's farewell to the bus
Looking at Galaxy 2.0 TDCi "zetec" spec - one year old cars sitting around 10K miles are somewhere around 16K pre-haggling - but as you say, the real bargain would appear to be buying a new one - the 1.8 TDCi being sold new at 6.5K off list!!
We've had to shell out to get the fuel pipe repaired as we're going on holiday this weekend and no time to sort out anything else - but I've decided not to repair the other 1K+ worth of faults until we come back and have had a chance to get a sensible price on a 2.0 TDCi Galaxy (Toyota don't seem to make the Previa anymore

).
On the plus side, Katie is enamoured by the Galaxy that her pal has - so, she'll be happy with one of those.
Cheers,
Robin
