If you change the lawn to stone chips, like we did - with Lisa's full buy-in, I may add - then Suzy will have no leg to stand on ;-)

It's lower maintenance too...

1. Go halfers on this: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/923295.htm :love

2. Get a trailer and some slicks / wets

3. Do lots of track days with your mate - Scare yourself silly with the slicks / wings buzz

4. Sell at the end of the year for more or less what you paid for it...

Ach, there is nothing like sitting on a proper race grid, waiting for the lights to change...(Although it's so long ago now, I can barely recall... :( )

If you've got the time / £££ to do it, go for it... :thumbsup

Well we finally go over to Larkhall to see this XR2. Hmm we'd been told that it was a solid car (ready to race) that was cluttering up someone's yard and they wanted shot at a reasonable price.
Unfortunately it's been sat a bit too long and has a bit of rot around the struts and the rollcage plates. As the plan had been "buy car race car" with neither of us having enough time to actually fix car we've ditched this current plan.

Hmm it has to be a race, ideally an endurance one for little or no money- ideas? Maybe the 2cv 24 hours....

Pete

PM me if you're interested in a cheap XR2 challenge car that may need a new shell...

Sorry to hear the car you went to see was a rotter Pete. There are lots more out there but in this game you do get what you pay for quite literally.

I have raced in the XR2's since the last event of 2007. I toddled round doing low 67 second laps for most of last year till I got a bit of tuition, that then took 1 second off my average lap times. That tuition wasn't in an XR2 but it still showed me a lot.

Pete - my car, #85 from 2008 will probably be available for sale some point this year. Got some plans up my sleeve for 2010 or later that I need to, lets say, save up for! So if you are interested give me a shout. I'm from Ayr but car is located at Knockhill.

Interesting though to read some of the comments about having raced / wanting to race. I think if you really want to race you don't bother with how much the suit, helmet etc costs, as being honest getting your licence and clothes is the cheapest part of racing, it gets dearer from there on in! ;)
