Another thought is to make the events take place with every member of the team in the car

That is what I had envisaged. However, if we do some of the motorsport stuff, there are rules about having passengers.

Aberdeen could put a fair team out.
Scotty, Craig, Ali, tut.
Even better idea, one member of the team from each decade, 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's......

No matter how silly the scoring system is, no track day operator will let us on the track because it's then competition. Hiring out Crail is a possibility to get around this but I have no idea whether or not running a non-MSA (as most drivers will be unlicensed I assume) competition is "legal" or not. I presume doing it properly would require cages and harnesses fitted and that's beyond the scope of this on cost/effort grounds?
We'd also have to consider that it's possible for someone to get hurt and Crail is a long way from a hospital. It's risky tanking around Crail together in 30 year old V6 Capris

Big heavy cars will pack a big heavy punch. I wondered before about mitigating this risk by limiting to smaller/slower cars (1.1 Rover Metro/100s for example) but wee cars have less protection . . .

This sounds great, but keep it simple. Whilst the idea of a venue sounds attractive in reality ironside is right - insurance and safety nightmare.
Enter the Auto grass as the last event? - cars must be driven there (but maybe not back) although I can't access the website so I'm guessing what it actually is...
Rather than sell what's left why not just get every team to donate to charity (via MP3) maybe in return Andy could get us some stickers to make the cars look all nice.
Autotest, Kames but fit timing gear? I don't think they'd like that. What if every team had a driver witha licence? What do you need to enter a hillclimb - do you even need a licence?
Sounds like a great idea (date dependant says the shift worker).

Just don't tell them we are timing?
If all else fails we can use Ingliston. Hired for a few hundred quid for the weekend, full access to the south track area and all access roads. We can't use the grass (they are a bit sensitive about that) but plenty of room to set up a variety of sprint and autotest circuits. We are left alone to do our own thing.
I am off there in an hour to set up the sprint for TRS tomorrow. Open all day Sunday if anyone wants to come and watch or investigate SE Shed challenge possibilities.

Im well up for this, Me, JJ and RossL for a team.
Kames is a good idea for timing laps. Would love to do a grass test too, maybe incorporate the rally course at Kames??

Sounds great.
A couple of comments though...
I'd say that MOT/Tax costs have to be within the budget (point deductions for going over budget, maybe additional points for buying a car with MOT / Tax?)
Teams of 3 or 4 is fine, until you buy a 2 seater?
To get around the 1 person driving motorsport thing, you could take a time for each team member and average it.

I say we have a curry night to discuss it - anything that needs discussing is a good night for a curry night!
Also - why don't we have a silly idea like basing whatever car your team uses, on a car that's ever been in a film....ANY film!
Why not make it any vehicle? An ice cream van converted? An ambulance converted? An old bread van? An old hearse????? the list is endless.... we could also do one stage as a kinda gumball rally???!!!!!!!
Doh! am I being stupid or just getting carried away!
Just thinking of the photos and the bribery afterwards to make more money for charity!

I like the idea of the £500 budget including everything tax, insurance, MOT if it needs it.
I also like the idea of maxing the engine size 1.4 16v 1.6 8v ?
(although the idea of hearses and vans sounds fun)
