I hope Mr Shug's offer of a floor to sleep on still stands, I've told Lesley that I will be stopping over. (actually I begged and grovelled like most of us do :D )
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

No hassle mate - what date?

Will be on the floor (or couch) in the living room, however, as spare room is in bits (like the walls are off)

First time out with the upgraded bits on the car, still working on the lines round the track. Looking only at the times it doesn't look as if I have improved. I spent the whole weekend working on getting better corner entry lines which require a little more bravery than the “safe” lines I was taking before. I didn't get a full clean run on any of my runs, I made mistakes on every lap. I will eventually with a bit more practice be able to string together a complete clean run which hopefully will get me into the 94’s.
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

Toyo 888's now pretty much done, after two test days, three sprint events and some spirited road driving.

I will use them till there through to the canvas at the SIDC day in June then change them for a set of Khumo's V70's.
I had hoped to try the new super soft fronts and soft rears. Camskill only have the soft fronts,and medium rears in stock and have reserved these for me as a contingency if the new 2009 super soft compound doesn't come into stock.
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

but surely if you keep changing your tyres you'll never get a set up and fine tune it, surely staying with what you know at presures you've found to be good and then try improve lines and braking points is better than chopping and changing all the time, trying to sus out the pressures that work with other tyres then the lines and braking point all over without getting the best out of what your trying? I've never done anything like what your doing so am absolutely clueless and stand to be readily corrected. I take my hat off to you, just thinking out loud mate :D

Won't take me any more than a few laps to know if my base pressure setting will work with the Khumho's. It all to do with the balance between the camber and sidewall flex. I am not running very much camber on the car so low pressure tires flex more and if there isn't enough camber you loose contact patch area. Keeping the tires at the top end of the manufactures recomended pressure range for hot tires really stiffens up the sidewalls.

The set up was devised by Chris Randle to work on short sprint tracks with his own spec nitron dampers, and if anyone thinks they know better than him about set up then they should be in F1 working for Ferarri.

The explanation above is the best way yet I have to explain why I am running 29-30 psi all round and getting even tire wear across the tire face.

All I need to do with the Khumho tires is possible drop the pressure a little bit as the sidewalk is slightly stiffer than yokohamas or 888's which are very similar.

There is an Exige running them very well so far this year.

I am on 18/20 with 888's and 48R's, but the centres are still wearing to nothing with tread still at the edges.

Have you tried measuring the tyre temperatures across the tyre ?

From what I can gather that is the best way to check camber/pressures

We found exactly the same on Noops car. He will have a TPMS fitted when his new set pf 888's arrive.

I was expecting uneven wear with the pressures I am running but my set is wearing perfectly , checked with digital gauge :roll:

That may be the obvious way to so it on track but at Kames your not getting enough heat into them over two laps. The feel of the car is the best indicator. If it's sliding around at 26 and not sliding around at 29-30 then it's a no brainer where you run the tyre at.

The tyre surface shows nice even wear across the whole tyre face and not just in the middle or edges.

Of course if your available to come along as pit crew for the next event we can experiment some more.
