Help! Puncture!

After the borders run last weekend I went out to the car yesterday to find a flat rear. It has picked up a pop rivet. However, the tyre held enough air to get me down to the local garage but it turns out that my locking wheel nut is knackered! I cant get the wheel off and Murrays has said that it will take 2-3 weeks to get a matching key! (Key code 883) Has anybody got any suggestions as to how I can get the wheel off? My Lotus is my only car and I'm a pretty stuck without it!

a word of advice given to me by Sir Tut - order up wheel nuts and throw the fecking locking ones in the bin!

anyway, that doesnt help you just now...

not sure of the S2's, but the S1s were a rover part therefore when I had the problem, I went to the local Rover parts place and they had them in stock.

Surely the garage has a broken locking wheelnut remover . . . if not I'm sure someone on here will . . . it will remove it and it will wreck it, so yeah, order some non locking ones . . . do crims really steal alloys anyway ?

You should be able to get it out by hammering a torx bit into the hollow on the head of the locking bolt, as they're quite soft (hence why they get knackered easily.)

Then, when the bit has a good hold, unwind as normal.

Last year Kenny had problems with a very tight nut that just got more and more chewed up. From memory it was Stu who eventually got it off, after two hours of hard drilling.

I have a locking wheel nut remover, If you need it I will need a couple of days notice so I can make new bits for it

Agree, throw them away especially the crap spline key ones and order decent nuts from Eliseparts.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will need to forcefully remove all four locking wheel nuts and have them replaced. Has anybody got any suggestions for a garage in Glasgow that could get the nuts off?

Oh and once while I struggled to find the key in a kwickfit the boys offered to take it off by dubious methods...

MMC should keep a master key. I would enquire with the service dept

Ah, didn't realise it was the key that was damaged - assumed it was the head of one of the bolts.
Remove the one on the punctured wheel forcibly in the meantime, and order a new key for the others?

It was Drivers in Glasgow who got mine off (similar situation, punctured tyre) so could try them.
