Re: Your 'Investment Garage'
Agree with the 993, maybe a C4S? plus a 340R & CSL
Problem is the word investment all of these cars mentioned would required a lot of TLC as they get past the 10-15 years old mark. I think you could potentially you could get an appreciating car but not so sure you could actually make money out of them.

Re: Your 'Investment Garage'
It is quite a thought that had I bought a 964RS when I got my Exige, I could have driven it for the last 4 years, and sell it on now for probably a 10k profit
As with all investments very hard to predict of course.
I reckon good investment cars need to be a) rare, and b) genuinely good cars. Take the Exige S1 and S2- both great cars, and as an all round package the S2 is a better (sorry, but it is), but the S1 will always have more investment potential as it was built in relatively tiny numbers. I could see the 2-11 doing well long term. Very rare, and just the kind of off-beat, covetable wheels collectors like to have in their garage.

Re: Your 'Investment Garage'
If we are talking investment from new - no.GregR wrote:Wow, I never thought the SZ would be in that price bracket nowHowever .. doesn't the fact that it cost £100k plus new, and is now £19k mean it shouldn't be in an investment garage?
But in terms of an investment from now, then yes. It's not going drop any more is it ?

Re: Your 'Investment Garage'
I'll defer to anyone with greater knowledge on the SZ market. I'm amazed its plunged to that level given the contemporaries (959, F40 and XJ220) are all north of £100k. From my uneducated standpoint, I don't think that bodes well for the SZ

Pity that they never gave the NSX the power that it deserved.

Re: Your 'Investment Garage'
Greg, I dont think they were anywhere near that when they were new - I am not sure they were even as much as £50k? In which case they have not done too badly. I imagine owning one would be a bit of a pain in the satchel though, niggles-wise. Spotted one on the Forth Rd bridge last week, looked amazing.

Re: Your 'Investment Garage'
IIRC they were around £40k or so when they were launched.....a lot when compared to a 75 but pennies considering how cool it looks and how well it is reputed to handle.jj wrote:Greg, I dont think they were anywhere near that when they were new - I am not sure they were even as much as £50k? Re: Your 'Investment Garage'
Personally I think it has dated really badly, I remember it on an old top gear and how the owner of the one they had on the show had bought the thing as an investment only to see it plunge in value.
the XJ220 however....
and the F40 was a bit sh*t

Are you on drugs?
Anyway, IMO, the NSX would have to be the Type R edition.
Greg, I wouldn't have thought the SZ was in the same league as the xj220 and F40, it only has an N/A V6 IIRC and is quite short of being a proper supercar.
Reading this thread, am I the only one to see a correlation between what evo have been pushing as classic/excellent driver's cars and price inflation? Mk2 escort aside.

Which makes me think, 22b's and other rare & uk spec classic shape impreza's must be looking at decent investment potential given the numbers crashed, chaved and used in motorsport.

I defer to your interpretation of obvious exotica under the "Your Game - Your Rules".........however some of us are old enough to remember this as "the one that got away"..........Prices on these dipped early to mid eighties to levels where Porsche Owners such as myself were considering them.GregR
