Newbie looking for advice

Post by neilj37 » Fri Jul 17, 2009 10:08 pm

Evening all,

Been a member of Jock7s for a while as I have a seven type kit car but its not really practical to drive to work in and leave parked up in Aberdeen. So looking to get an S2 Elise but I know nothing about the different specs ie Racetech, 111S, 111R, 135. My budget is about £15,000 so which model should I be going for and what should I look for if i go to view a car?

Oh by the way, just incase Brian Laing reads this Hi Brian, its Neil Johnson.

Welcome Neil.

For model differences check out:

Depends what you want from the car but buget should cover a wide range of options.

Basically I want a car that I can have a bit of fun in around the roads and use through the summer when I cannot use the seven ie to go to work and not looking to track it. I have seen a few nice 111S on pistonheads for around 13k but wondered if it was worth pushing up to the 15k for a 111R.

Best idea is to drive them and see - the K series engined S and the yota engined R are very different to drive. Many of this parish would prefer the S
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Welcome to S_E Neil and good luck with the car hunting.

I have never even driven an S2, but advice will come from elsewhere.

:welcome Neil!

My husband (Gourlay83) built a Westfield when he satyed in Falkirk but when we moved to Aberdeen, we didnt have a garage to keep in so he had to sell it and we bought an S1 Elise instead! Good luck in your hunt!

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

I'd buy as new as you can.
I have owned a 111s and now a n/a exige......the difference in performance isn't huge but the way the power is delivered is, but you soon learn and adapt.
My money would (and will do again, one day) go on a 111r.
