I remember you telling me Robin to just give Jamie the keys and let him take it out. I did and never saw it again for 40 mins.

Funny thing was I never felt a problem with the car on the smooth track, cornering and grip were great, tyres melted at the end of the day, was never passed all day, but it was trying to throw me off the road every time I went over a ridge or bump on the way down on the A90. The back end did take off over the ridge on the pit straight and the revs shot up, but it still went straight. Probably just got used to it and adapted.

That's because both rear dampers are absolutely shagged.

Also whether it's cause or effect, dampers that don't damp can be related to bent wishbones (you bend the wishbone when you bottom out the damper travel ; this is quite easy to do when the damper has no oil or effective valving; also if you do it when the damper does have oil in it, you're quite likely to be overloading the damper in the process!).

Once the wishbone is bent is exaggerates the bump steer effect of the rear toe links such that small movements up/down causes relatively larger toe angle changes. Of course worn wishbones bushes and the the wishbones flailing about in the subframe mounts will do this too, as you well know - N1 did this quite dramatically IIRC. Best get the rear end stripped and inspected before you do too much more with N3.

Cheers,
Robin

She certainly was going well in the Mule at the end of the day, just needed to let the car do more of the work, and was getting there, making such progress we nearly ran out of fuel as she was getting better by the lap. Think that was what she needed after the gravel trap!

It should become our KH mission, Mr Iddon, and the Dastardly McApe, to try and ensure we make her quicker than her Dad :damnfunny

Tut - know what you mean about the car lifting on the main straight, the Atom used to do it all the time  certainly focuses the mind when accelerating through 120+ :damnfunny . You could of course just borrow the Mule and be done with such power and suspension issues :damnfunny

Clarkyboy is coming up on Thursday Robin to remove all my shocks for me and I will send them back to Nitron for rebuilding. They probably also have the softest springs on them as I don't think Cowan specified, if so I may uprate them. We can also check the wishbones and rear toe links at the same time.

I bought all new bushes and eight ball joints for Mark to fit before he stopped working, so will put it into Ricky to
get those done. No trackdays coming up for a while so will give her some TLC.

Andy

After Monday I will probably not be allowed to go to trackdays on my own anymore, so looks as if I will be doing less driving in my car.

On the other hand, once they have enough money between them, they could buy N1.

Somebody had left what looked like a BBQ grill on the car park so I kicked it out of the way and the bugger bit me.

As I was dripping blood onto the restaurant floor, Robin made me put a paper serviette around it.

Do I look like a woofter?

Would lose two seconds a lap around KH if I wore shoes, though I suppose that would then give Andy and Scotty a chance.

Know what you mean Andy, and I could still go upto the last minute as Paul has left it open for me.

However common sense, horrible expression, says that it would be better to go out on a high, rather than struggling to keep going, which would not be a pretty sight.

However on Stelvio 2004 which you sign up for months ahead, there was no way that I was going, then in the last week decided I was fit enough, and regardless that I had no hotel, ferry bookings etc, teamed up with Robin and John, and ended up with a momentous two weeks.

So maybe still keep an eye in your mirrors.............
