It's so much easier driving slowly - the tyres don't go off before you run out of fuel ;-)

I would guess Advan Neovas, if you can still get them, would not be that bad - I mean it is only a VHPD and the car is light; it's not a 1,000 kg 300BHP S/C tyre eating monster ... of course if you consistently break traction with them, they're going to get red hot and melt, but if you drive mostly within the limits of available traction, they'll be fine - just my 2p -

OTOH I'm sure the likes of Andy "Sideways" Gordon and Neil "High Side" McKean would see off a set of those in 15 minutes flat ;-)

Right...

I'm booking a bed on the saturday night and another one on the monday night on the way home...

Current thinking is a B&B in Dover town on the saturday night and a pikey lodge in Birminghamshire on the way back to break up the journey....

Anyone else thinking similar who hasn't booked yet??

Andy and I were discussing it on Monday Dave, he's swithering a bit and needs to be back on Monday night (Tue morning realistically)

I'm happy to go with a B&B etc near Dover on the way there.

For the way back I was thinking it might be better to stay closer to Dover - otherwise we'd be hitting the M25 at 6pm...

Think Ill need to get something for the sat otherwise ill just be buggered the rest of the week. On the way back Im suppossed to be back in work for tuesday so may just drive back over night :tired

There's a pikey inn 5 mins from the ferry with rooms available... right next to a beefeater. £69 a room though since we've left it a bit late.

Think I'm going to book a room there for the Saturday. Anyone want to share ??

OK, Mr G and I booked in the 5 star luxury of the Sutherland House Hotel.

It's 7 miles up the road from the ferry but has an 'honesty bar' (!!!) and includes full breakfast for £67 all in.
