Re: Private Number Plates

Good advice so far. I got a front plate from fancyplates.com and it was nicely finished off and exactly to my (legal) spec. I left the rear plate full width and I think it looks OK. I nearly bought my number from one of the dealers and they had loaded another £40 on to the cost! Go DVLA. I used one long strip of adhesive velcro (one inch wide) and I fixed the front plate so the base was about half an inch below the level of the car in the hope I get an early warning for low kerbs etc.

Cheers.

On the shortening of plates, i hear a hacksaw and a heated spoon to seal the sawed edges will sort you out.

If you're thinking of buying one, go to the DVLA as they'll be cheaper than regtransfers or newreg.co.uk :thumbsup
What i've done for years now - is
Hack saw or now i use a jig-saw with a metal cutting blade in it.
and to smooth the edges & round the corners I use a sanding disk in a Black & decker drill / or a bench belt sander.
takes 20 secs to do it.....

Heres a few I done earlier....

When I got my plate I hunted high a low to try and find a full width/half height plate for the front of the Exige. I think, because of the cut out in the front splitter, a short plate would look weird. Couldn't find one though so just went with normal ones, might try fancyplates :thumbsup

Be advised, velcro is illegal for attaching a plate. You would not last five minutes around here.

 Surely they would have to be looking pretty close to pull you up on this? My plate is staying like this for the forseeable future.

I'll take some better snaps of the Exige for you today - while the sun is still out!
