I would need to check back old threads but I am sure that last year's FF7 cost me round about £2k all in. That was in my S1 so the service before I went was DIY and was probably needed anyway so I don't count that. If I didn't do the miles on FF I would do them in the UK on more TDs and road runs. I used T1-R's last year and they were fine and were probably still good for a few K of miles afterwards. Obviously my more sedate (slow) style of track driving helps on that front.

I don't do the extra days at the Ring so that also keeps the cost down for me. This year I shared a room so that also reduced the cost by £120. I did less peage miles this year so my tolls were less than £40 this year.

Excluding tyres and servicing I am sure my total bill came in at less than £1,700 this year. I think total fuel was c£500, food & booze c£250, tunnel £110 & FF8 £700. I have to concede that I did pretty much use up a brand new pair of rear 048's so that is about another £300+ and I did have a £320 service at MMC before I went, but the car will really only need an interim oil change before the next service (probably close to £100).

You also have to consider European breakdown cover and track insurance (if you are so inclined). I was fortunate that all of this was covered by my existing Heritage policy but not sure what I will do for next year as this cover is no longer available.

Still not a cheap holiday and more so if you have kids and a wife that also need a break. That said it is still worth trying to get at least one under your belt if at all possible.

I am not entirely sure why this is being labelled the extreme version and I am sure FF9 will be just as arduous and probably more so given the very warm weather in August. I am looking forward to hopefully cooler (but still dry) conditions of June.

I need to wait for my work to confirm that I can have the time of as it is the same week at the Highland Show which I am normally required to work at :( Will hopefully get the green light tomorrow, failing that I may just have to take an executive decision and face the consequences

Anything that Paul organizes is a bargain. I know LOT is a non profit organization, but last Xmas there were two bookings for Abbeyville, but he still would not cancel it.

Xtreme - purely because of the tracks that have been chosen Stewart - they are very hard, on the cars and on the driver, and simply 3 of the 4 are among the best tracks in France (shame Ledenon is missing, but not so gutted as i dont have an Atom!) . Charade is simply epic! Huge, very challenging, and a track you could drive for days, and still be working on your lines, sections etc.

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.
